    Mia Kazmaroff series 1-3

Fabulous..just like a quote in the book, "they are better than Beckett & Castle". The stories keep you on the edge of your seat...and now I'm about to read book 4

Good stories, shame about the main character

I have mixed feelings about these books, so I waited a few days before writing the review to let things settle. I love the premise, the writing is engaging, and I really love Jack. The problem for me is Mia. I liked her at first; quirky, impulsive, not always thinking before she acts... But for me those fun-to-read character traits ended up going way too far. I don't want to spoil too much, but despite working with a seasoned investigator she listens to exactly none of his advice and does what she wants anyway, then blames him for not listening to *her* when it goes wrong. Despite apparently being an adult she can't seem to grasp that the world does not and will not consider her gift (which she occasionally admits to herself is not flawless) as adequate evidence to prosecute someone or spend money on expensive investigations. I ended up quitting after book 2 and haven't read book 3 because I was going from "Mia is irritating" to "I really hate her and want to throw my e-reader across the room". Reading the story in book 3 is not worth my e-reader. I was going to suck up my dislike and given this boxset 4 stars based on the overall talent and the fact that my dislikes are personal and not a flaw in the writing - except that by the end of book 2 Mia is saying Jack's rational caution (not dismissal, *caution*) is as bad as her lies and impulsiveness that put herself (and others) in danger... and he starts to agree with her. When he began buying into what is frankly gaslighting' from her, and there's no balancing argument or anyone being anything other than disturbingly protective of Mia (who's in her late 20s), I began to feel like the author was buying into her own heroine too much. It didn't feel like the author was deliberately going for "really unhealthy dynamic", that was just happening, so it brought the book down to 3 stars for me.

    So good

I bought the first three books in this series, and can't wait to read number four. Had me enthralled, couldn't put the books down. Highly recommend.

    Great Mysteries

Enjoyed this author. The storyline for the mysteries were great for each book. I found the romance part a little trying but it did work so other than that I enjoyed them. Obviously the romance didn't put me off too much because I couldn't put the book down until I found out who done it.
