You can not use cruelty against yourself to justify cruelty to others." -Violetta Final Thoughts: Marie Lu can sure write amazing action scenes. The book did have some weak slow moments. I thought Midnight Star was a good conclusion to the Young Elites series. I love books that have a map it adds to the story. I enjoyed at the end the Midnight Star folktale, so romantic. The A on the cover being swords (daggers) was the thing I loved about the cover. There just something about a book cover that gets me interested or not.

    Keep The Kleenex Close

6 stars, at least. Not a long read, but it packed a serious punch. I could not have envisioned a more beautiful, meaningful end to what has been a memorable, exciting journey with new characters and a unique world. I loved these books so much, and MIDNIGHT STAR reigned supreme. The story was fairly linear, but this was about the characters coming to the end of their journey. And what a journey it was. This is emotional fantasy writing at its best, accompanied by Lu's eloquent voice, gorgeous descriptions, and rich mythology. The action was exciting and every character got their own moment in the spotlight as we say goodbye (too soon!). I felt like I was on a journey with everyone as the Elites face the consequences of their actions and make choices that will affect them and their entire world. But what stuck with me the most was the ending. THE ENDING. I can't even. It was BEAUTIFUL, and couldn't have been more perfect. I had to fight to hold my tears back in public when I finished it this morning. I'm tearing up now just thinking about it. The last twenty or so pages broke my heart and I couldn't have been more grateful for the pain. This series exceeded my high expectations, and MIDNIGHT STAR will always remain a book that struck me in the feels exactly the way I hoped it would. This is not a series to miss out on. Thank you Marie!
