Another ghost hunt for Verity and Franky

Verity and Franky are back! This time they are investigating a murder at an old sanitarium nicknamed the Mint Julep Manor. They are locked in by a powerful ghost who refuses to let them leave until the killer is caught. This really reminded me of the game Clue with it’s murder mystery. The ghosts in the manor are quite interesting and sad at the same time. It is depressing learning how easy it was to be committed back then, especially for people who were different or ahead of their times. I really love Vertity and Franky. They are an interesting team but they work really well together. I love that Verity is still trying to free Franky. Ellis is the perfect man for Verity. He supports her, believes in her, and goes ghost hunting with her even though he is still struggling to accept her profession. But he is starting to be able to feel some ghost so I am excited to see what happens in the future books. The ending left me very anxious and really needing the next book. I wasn’t expecting that at all and I need to know what Franky and Verity are going to do! *ARC provided by Netgalley for an honest review.*

Surprises in the 8th book of the SGH series.

The eighth installment of the Southern Ghost Hunter series, The Mint Julep Murders, finds Verity Long, her formerly alive sidekick Frankie, and cop boyfriend Ellis trapped in the previously abandoned Pikesville Sanitorium dubbed Mint Julep Manor. Located in a neighboring county, the trio is on a mission to get some answers about Frankie’s untimely demise. They meet current owner, Barbara, who is intent on turning the facility into a destination spot for ghost hunters, and a couple visiting for the ghost experience who have some underlying motives. When one of the small group is found dead, Verity must connect with the spectral plane and the long dead residents of the asylum to unmask the killer among them. What she finds brings a new understanding of what is possible in the present world, as well as the spirit world. My favorite part of this series is the thoughtful and respectful way author Angie Fox has her protagonist interact with the dead. Obviously these are fictional characters, but many settings have some basis in actual historical events or practices. This particular book deals with the cruel and torturous treatments inflicted on mental health patients, once upon a time, and Verity’s commitment to helping the Manor’s long dead residents overcome the lasting effects of the horrible things they endured in life. Another fantastic fast paced read, this continues to be one of my favorite mystery series because of the interesting and complex characters, the unexpected plot twists, and the descriptive writing that Fox excels at. If you enjoy mysteries that aren’t terribly dark, mixed with paranormal fun, memorable characters, and a little Southern flavor, this is the series for you. So whether you pick up a hard copy or add this to your electronic reader, make sure you don’t miss The Mint Julep Murders.

    An asylum mystery!

Two mysteries in one! Fans of the series will finally get an answer to a character’s past while those new to the series will still be able to enjoy it as a stand-alone story.

    WHO SHOT FRANKIE

WHEN YOU DIE -YOU ARE NOT GONE! Ghost hunter Verity with her gangster ghost Frankie are still searching for answers to Frank's demise. LOVE the name of this mystery maybe because I also LOVE the MINT JULEP BOURBON COCKTAIL too. Fox's plot location the Mint Julep Manor is a haunted mental asylum with, you guessed it, spirit residences. Verity, along with her police boyfriend Ellis, arrive on a stormy night and soon find themselves trapped with no escape. This creepy multi-story manor gives FOX many opportunities to keep the reader jittery and turning the pages with shaky fingers. I personally missed Lucy the pet skunk who was left at home by Verity. COBWEBS and Locked doors lead to MURDERS and a challenge to survive. WHO SHOT FRANKIE over a hundred years ago? A copy of this book was provided by author with no requirements for a review. Comments here are my honest opinion." THIS SERIES JUST KEEPS GETTING BETTER!

Awesome action packed paranormal murder mystery.

The Mint Julep Murders (Southern Ghost Hunter Mysteries Book 8) I just love this book! This series gets better & better! It’s very well written & the story flows at the perfect pace for this action packed paranormal murder mystery. Verity is trying her best to free Frankie the Gangster Ghost whom she accidentally trapped on her property They end up stuck at a very scary, very dangerous haunted asylum during a murderess thunderstorm.
