  • Feel lifted

Interestig and moving book. It is written on the style of a technical person with facts and figures. It is a book to gather awareness and knowledge. I hope it serves to open the many closed eyes of people in power. Well done Melinda, you are leading the way to abetter world.

  • Empowering and Hopeful

If you are poor, isolated, a woman, then you are living on the edge and you absolutely have no power. Melinda, working with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, is attempting to empower women living in poor countries. With schooling comes education. With education comes knowledge. With knowledge comes power. With power comes the ability to stand up and talk for yourself and to make decisions that would benefit yourself and your family. “You invest in a girl or woman and you’re investing in everyone else”. Melinda has definitely done her research. She travelled throughout the poorest countries, talked to many women living in extreme poverty, talked to healthcare professionals and she and her team focused on family health, family planning, education, unpaid work (including housework), child marriage and agriculture. Some of the issues are also the cultural differences which take time to change. I highly recommend reading The Moment of Lift. It will certainly change your perspective on life.

  • A blessing

I feel privileged to have read this book. I felt like I was sitting with the author having the most important conversation of my life. Thirty-five years ago I worked in grass root organizations supporting women and families dealing with many of the issues explored in this heart healing book. I wish I had been able to read it then. It is a “how-to” achieve positive change in support programs. I have given the book to other women and told them read it, then read it again, this is what will work to make society whole. The messages of inclusion, of mutual support, of strength in numbers, of kindness and respect can serve us all as helpers, leaders and citizens. Thank you Melinda for your book and your work.

  • Change agent

I wasn't sure if this book was going to be another chest thumping story. I had a hard time putting it down though because she spoke to every issue I've been shouting and whining about. The only topic missing is that of corruption and its impact on equality and social problems. So much to take away and still much to do.

    Thanks for your feedback!
