    Excellent read

I enjoyed a return to the Recluse series! A new mage, stuggling to understand his nature is a well written novel.

    Young mage in interesting times

This is classic Modesitt in Fantasy mode. The story line is familiar, maybe predictable, to those who have read his other Recluse books. A young mage slowly discovers his powers overcoming obstacles along the way and realizing that at least some in the world are out to get him. This time we are in Gallos and Spindlar. I enjoyed reading it a lot as there was plenty of detail and Modesitt knows how to pace a plot line. I dropped a star because I could guess at least some of what was going to happen. I'm looking forward to the next book in this series.
