    post-apocalyptic story

CW Hawes's book The Morning Star (The Rochefort Saga, #1) made me think of the quote by Socrates's,"The unexamined life is not worth living." The post-apocalyptic story has been told many different ways and I have read a good number of them. I enjoyed the main character - Bill Arthur. Having an older main character was a nice twist and the way Bill gathers people and a wife does gives one hope for humanity. This first book seems to be the start of a new world where Bill is working on survival first and then there are hints that he has plans to use steam technology as to not loose the knowledge the human race has acquired. It is obvious the author and therefore his character is well read and uses philosophy and a variety of penned ideas as a way to mentor how he approaches daily problems of survival from other humans, animals, and rebuilding a conscience society. I look forward to the next in the series.
