    Beyond 5 stars.....EPIC STORY!

I Loved The Pact and The Offer. So when I heard Kayla and Lachlan were getting there own book I was over the moon excited. When pre order links went live I One clicked knowing I was going to LOVE this book. Boy was I right, Karina Halle knocked it out of the park with The Play. I fell in love with Lachlan! He may be my favorite book boyfriend of all time! This book and all the feels, I cried, I laughed, I couldn't wait to see how this was going to end. and Just as I thought it was EPIC.

    Perfectly "played" out story!!!!

I have to start off by saying that I read many books by Karina Halle including The Pact, The Offer and now The Play and I have to say she has done it once again.....she has written an amazing, beautiful story between Lachlan (Linden and Bram's cousin from The Pact and The Offer) and Kayla (Stephanie and Nicola's friend from The Pact and The Play as well). This story had me in tears from the Prologue and I knew I couldn't put this book down. It made us understand how Lachlan's troubled and difficult life came to be and the struggles he faced every day until he meets the beautiful Kayla which only intensifies this remarkable story. This is a story of two people trying to find their way in life sometimes together and sometimes apart. Lachlan....just his name spills out sexiness and Kayla have this off the charts chemistry from day one. They are so good together, fun together, hot sexed for each other....which was sizzling by the way, so passionate for each other....everywhere (lol), so loving, so understanding until their pasts and demons catch up to them. Could their love withstand this, could they get through this.....together...apart??? This is what is worth the read how this beautiful, inspirational story evolves. Without giving too much away and reiterating the story, this amazing story has so many life lessons in it....how to love, how to like, how to let go, how to be compassionate and understanding, how to compromise, how to be there for one another, how to know when you need help for yourself and for the ones you love, how to pick up the pieces from the past and paste them together for a better future for yourself, for Lachlan, for Kayla and for both of them together. I really like stories where I could relate my own life to and this certainly has so many emotions and feels of a "real life" story. Everyone should experience this five star read and everyone has to experience the wonderful and beautiful writing of Karina Halle. This was not my first read by Karina Halle as I mentioned and it will never be by last. She is someone to watch out for and I will always be on the look out for her next beautiful read. Her stories will stay with you forever as I have discovered and the story of Lachlan and Kayla is one that will stay with you and one that will always be close to your heart.

A *5* Star Book that BLEW me AWAY!

This was my first read of Karina Halle's and has me wondering where she has been all my life! This was an impulse buy for me (gotta love the e-reader and instant access) due to all the amazing reviews my book friends were posting on social media - needless to say I was NOT disappointed! The Play was a book I absolutely could not put down, I carried my Kobo with me constantly and stole reading time at every corner. The troubled exciting romance between Kayla and Lachlan just pulled me in and kept me turning those pages, so in love with them and cheering them on till the end. This book had me smiling, laughing, and full on crying at points with my chest held tight. It will leave you with lots to think about and the realization that sometimes love is not enough - people really do need to hit rock bottom sometimes and want to pick themselves up for themselves. Love cannot conquer all but hopefully it can be the light at the end of the tunnel that helps us pick ourselves up and strive for the best we can be. The Play has left me in a huge book hangover - one where I can only overcome it by re-reading some of the best loved parts of the book until I am ready to move on. I'm left imagining the beautiful scenery of Napa and Scotland as well as the amazing relationship of Kayla and Lachlan, how they love, how they support each other and how they deal with sorrow and past demons. Do yourself a favour and dive into this book as soon as you can and bring along a box of tissues.

    The Play

It has been a while since I have enjoyed a romance novel like The Play. Lovely, deep conversations between the characters and within Kayla's psyche. The Author's love of rescue animals, specifically pit bulls, is a love shared in my own life. The unconditional love between man and dog is interwoven with this love story. The struggle within each character as they learn to fight their individual demons and mixed with the beautiful love story as they join together to fight and endure the struggle of real life addiction, grief, lust and finally deep love. Ms. Halle needs another long vacation in order to treat us to more of her well written words. My local no-kill animal shelter is D'Arcy's Animal Rescue or D'Arcy's ARC in Winnipeg, Canada. They have blessed our family with several dogs: Tripp, who is now in Heaven after succumbing to cancer only a year after his rescue from a horrible hoarding situation (the persons responsible were successfully prosecuted and given a jail sentence) And to my beauty Coco with us now 8 years after spending nearly a year at the ARC raising her puppies, being adopted out then returned back and becoming sad, anxious and depressed. It took me three visits to coax her out of her kennel into my lap. She has improved greatly in 8 years, but the scars of being raised in a puppy mill, bred to bore beautiful puppies while living in filth up to her elbows...still prevail. Ms Halle donates a portion of book sales to needy animal shelters is enough said.
