    It deserves 10 stars

By far the best book I've read in years. Turns your thinking on its head, like Atwood's The Handmaid's Tale, or like Daniel Quinn's Ishmael. A compelling story, and a frank review of our world and the way we live in it.

    Amazing

I loved the dystopian reimagining of what might happen if women were suddenly the stronger of the sexes. The corruption of power grows insidiously throughout the book, leading the the (inevitable?) conclusion (no spoilers). A feminist re-imagining that does not glorify female virtue nor flinch from depicting both the good and bad in all of us.

    Stirring read

Even tempoed book with good mix of narrative and research. It exposes some ingrained faults I have: coquettish phrases, a need to prove physical strength to men and overall identity tied way too tight with gender.

Didn't live up to my expectations

This book started off well, but as I got closer to the end I found myself skimming so I could just get finished. The premise is fascinating, but I found myself having to stop and think about which character's point of view I was seeing now and having trouble differentiating between some of them. A better book about a world in which women are in charge is Sherri Tepper's "The Gate to Women's Country" in my opinion.

    The Power

Too depressing. Too much emphasis on violence and degradation. It was an unpleasant reading experience
