  • The prechers promise

I almost erased this book after 2 chapters and am glad I didn't. It started out as too much of a boaring love story and I almost gave up. I am so glad to have kept going because it turned out to be a great storyline. It gave me a new idea as to how difficult it was for the slaves after they were free. I enjoyed this storyline and characters very much. Thanks

  • Informative and captivating

It was interesting to read about the struggles of freed slaves after so many generations of oppression. I also enjoyed the love story and the problems between two people of the same race coming together from such different backgrounds. It demonstrated God’s grace and unconditional love. Gwen Wallace.

  • With only their faith in Gods plan.

Although laws changed the hearts and minds of man took much more. For an educated woman left mourning and penniless the letter seemed a miracle. It was for many more than just her. Yet their trials were not passed. The importance of understanding the weight carried by brave souls like these... Knowledge of history empowers the youth of future generations.
