  • A woman's fantasy come to life.

A great blend of fantasy, reality and romance. True soap opera material. Alicia has had so many let downs and emotional upheavals in her life she needs a change. Too bad her biggest heartache is about to have a miraculous resurrection. I enjoy reading stories where you get the escape you want, the heat you crave and the twists you don't expect. The Prince's Bride by Diane Alberts has all these plus more. A woman's fantasy come to life.

  • A reunion romance with a royalty theme!

I love a good royalty themed book and that's what we get here, as well as a second chance romance for Alicia and Leo. A friendship when they were teenagers never panned out into anything more when Leo left the US for his home country and letters Alicia wrote to him went unanswered. With a sudden change in fortune Alicia had to fend for herself and managed to get her education and a good position, one with a company that is now dealing with Leo's country and an investment opportunity. When she encounters him at a masked party, she thinks she's just crossing one more thing off her bucket list - sex with a stranger. But when that man turns out to be Leo ( who knew who she was all along), the consequences are more than she bargained for. Having to be a 'guest' at his palace while they make sure there will be no unintended offspring, Alicia and Leo have the chance to reconnect. But can she ever forgive him for breaking her heart so long ago? When Leo and Alicia hook up upon meeting as adults, the chemistry they share is definitely off the charts! So attraction isn't the issue for them - rather it's the beliefs of what did (or didn't) happen in the past. In that sense, this is a story with a 'big misunderstanding' theme, that goes on for a little longer than I would have liked. Once again, a clear conversation between them would have solved all their problems - but then there wouldn't have been much to the story. I liked the two of them together, and Leo definitely comes across as a good and decent man (a prince, soon to be King) with a lot of responsibility on his shoulders. Alicia also was very likable, with a strong work ethic and belief in herself. She's not going to take anything less than a solid commitment from Leo and while they may enjoy an affair together, she knows that his reality and hers are not going to coincide - at least not without some major compromises. It was an enjoyable read, with a lovely happy ending. 3.5 stars.
