  • Loved it

I read the second book in this series first. Yes, I know I am backwards but I so enjoyed it and the characters that I had to read this one. This one did not disappoint either. I was enthralled with the concept of the story. Cole is a cattle rancher that is still in love with his deceased wife. Several years have passed since her death. The housekeeper, Mrs. Harris, and his best friend Gage, know that Melanie would be perfect for Cole. Mrs. Harris is throwing them together while Gage is trying to make him jealous. Melanie is Cori's best friend (Cori is Cole's younger sister). Melanie is a wedding planner and has to work with Cole as Cori is having emergency surgery out of town. The hilarious events will keep you laughing but there are some really poignant moments as well. My emotions were up and down constantly. I really felt for Cole as he struggles to realize that it is okay to let his first wife go and love Melanie. Melanie struggles with her past. Her father is just an evil man. Cole goes into a business agreement with Melanie's father unknowing who he is. The struggle that these two characters faced was a torment to read but oh so good. I loved having the book written in a dual POV format. Getting into both Cole's and Melanie's minds to see their thought process really helped me, someone who has never gone through anything like these characters, to completely understand them. Being able to identify with the characters, I feel, helps to make the reading experience a real personal one. The story played out like watching a movie. There was several scenes that eluded to a bedroom scene but the author left it to our imagination. I had a hard time putting this down. I am so glad that I was able to read the second book first as it lead me to read this one. While you don't have to read this first to enjoy the second book, there are a few references in the second book that you will see here. I highly recommend this book and the second book to anyone.
