  • Not what I expected.

Glad it was short! I couldn't find the charm or humour in this book, I found it bleak and unpleasant at times. If I was on a train first thing in the morning having to listen to some of the 'stories' I would probably move to a different carriage or get off. I thought things may improve when Julie was introduced, but no, I then found myself reading about sounds people make in public toilets while relieving themselves! The only shining light was the retirement home and its residents, the end was predictable but at least had hope. This book was not for me, maybe I missed something?

    Thanks for your feedback!

  • delicious

A tale as light and delicious as the most delicate French pastry, beautifully crafted characters living ordinary lives, lit with the skills of an artist,
