  • Hooked Me Right In

I received an ARC from Entangled Publishing via NetGalley before the release, but the book completely blew me away, I had to have my own copy! So I bought it lol. And all that's going through my mind right now is.... "WHAT??? NO!!!! WHY?!?!?!?!?!??!" THAT ENDING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! *cough* Okay, so this is the second installment to the Deathmark series. I haven't read the first book (YET) but I thought the book did well to clue me in on this world that I was entering. From what I got in the beginning, Ollie and the other people like her mark others for the Reapers to find and take to the Other Side. Her boyfriend's one of these people, and her own Reaper (and a hottie Southerner at that, WOW) but he's stuck in their version of Hell because they're both being punished for trying to take down their current government of Reaperville. The whole thing is already sounding interesting, and it's been two years since the first book. And then things got interesting. I have to say, this thing blew me away. I don't know if it's because I got smacked into the middle of it or what, but FUCKING WOW. I love Ollie, love her stubborn-dreadlock-(dreadloooocccckkkssss)-covered head, her rebellion heart, her passionate and devoted soul (well half a soul) to lovey dovey Brent. She instantly grew on me and I am so enamoured by her, I can't even think of a single thing to hate about her. AT ALL. Since I didn't know Brent, all I had to go on was their relationship that she liked to constantly think about, so I think I personally got a sense of suspense because I totally kept wondering if he was secretly a bad guy or something. But nope! He's a real sweetheart lol AND he references Mary Kay?!?!? Brownie points. The writing style was great and rich, a nice thick piece of novelty that kept me engrossed and satisfied all the way through. A lot of things happened to keep me on my toes, and you are seriously missing out if you do not pick this up. Definite recommend!

    Thanks for your feedback!
