    movie will be amazing

I read this book because of the movie on the way starring Leonardo DeCaprio. Let me tell you that it will be epic. The novel: The plot of the story engages you right from the get go. It's about a man's survival and beating the odds when they were stacked against him. It deals with his drive to seek revenge. Parts of the book I admit I skimmed quickly through. They had to do with the trapping industry and different tribes of native Americans. (I am not a history type person.) But the main story was so exciting. It kept me guessing. If the movie is even half as good as this book we are in for a treat.

    The revenant

Glad I watched the movie first. Allowed me to enjoy both mediums to their fullest instead of having a grandiose imagining of the events in the novel only to be dissapointed by what the film left out. Watch the movie first and gain a greater level of understanding and involvement by reading the novel.

    Suspenseful!!

If the movie is as good as the book, be prepared to bite your nails to nubs! Suspenseful and thrilling as the author takes you on a journey of insurmountable odds, pain, agony, defeat, justice, vengeance, peace. Not in ny particular order of course.

    The Revenant by Michael Punke

The gripping adventure 0f a hunter/trapper's endurance and determination after being mauled by a bear in the wild. The story realistically describes the hardships men faced to further the fur industry in 1828. I highly recommend this book which grabs the reader from page 1 and does not let go. My only critique is that I found the end to be abrupt and anti-climatic, but it does not significantly undermine the value of the novel. One point, the precis says this is a story about revenge. It is not. Revenge may be the hero's motivation but this is a book about strength of character and survival.

    A Survival Story

Good book 3.5 stars. Interesting read. Survival story at it's finesse. Based on what I heard about the movie reviews and acting, this is the first time where I thought about going to see the movie.
