    Rise and Fall of DODO

This is a book about how magic was once a part of the world, and then was extinguished as technology developed. A government Black ops group is funded to explore the reintroduction of magic into the present, and the plot takes off from there. I found Parts I and II of the book very enjoyable and easy to follow. As the story progressed, I found it challenging to enjoy due to the introduction of frequent acronyms, changes in narrator, use of bureaucratic memos to advance the story.

    Great story...

Shorter than I would have liked. Not sure if the "price per page" is appropriate. The book ended abruptly, (was it intended as a cliffhanger?). If that was the case then okay, you suckered me... when can I buy the next part?

Funnier than the average Neal Stephenson.

Unlike other Neal Stephenson's works, this one is *funny*. There is the usual serious science fiction going on, but sense of humour injected in here, most likely by Galland's share of the writing, makes this a must read novel.

Rise and no fall of my Dodo brain

First time Stephenson/Galland reader, and was captivated! A most unlikely premise made likely...time travel, witches, end of manic, high tech, mixed with a cast of eccentric characters from all Ilks and historical eras. What an imaginative romp ! Characters were well developed with surprises galore. The bog down of bureaucracy encountered was hysterical and way too familiar for anyone who has worked in a large organization, esp government! There were some times I was thinking ‘I am less than halfway through ‘ and I was waning a bit, but preserved and was glad I did.

    Brilliant

Clever and engaging. Bought it before release and savoured it over the week. Can't wait for the next one
