I finished this book feeling disappointed. Yes, the couple got their happy ending, but the conflict felt contrived and unnecessary. The father went from furious and thinking she was not worthy to later saying he immediately regretted his words. The "twist" at the end was sloppy and felt rushed, like it was thrown in there at the last minute to create the obligatory plot twist. The problem came from the place where this character has no history in the book, came in and then was gone. I just felt the entire last 15-20% of the book was terribly disappointing. I used to like this author but this and another recent read have made me question this. I hope she can change my mind and get her mojo back. I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

  • Friends to Lovers

I enjoyed this story of best friends finally admitting their love for each other and overcoming all obstacles including family to be together. Jack and Sophia are relatable characters whom I pulled for and enjoyed watching their growth as individuals and in their romance. I really liked Jack’s development through this story. If you like best friends to lovers trope and groveling this is a good story for you. It’s low steam, with lots of sparks and chemistry. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

  • This is the sweetest of love triangles!

Aww, I just love Sophia and her reasons for agreeing to marry Edward. It was fun to watch Jack struggle with his feelings for her, especially since Edward's his best friend. The scene where he finally opens up was absolute perfection, and because of who he opened up to, I think I can honestly say I've never read anything like it before! It took me a while to warm up to Jack, mostly because of his state of denial. The secret revealed at the end wasn't a complete surprise, but the complication it created for Jack and Sophia's relationship seemed a bit much. Still, it didn't take up too much time so I can overlook its little interruption. Their HEA was sublime, and I adored how it also included a very well-deserved HEA for another couple. I especially appreciated how the lines were blurred between friends and family, showing that family really is made by the heart and not by the DNA. It's a terrific book that I highly recommend. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

  • What is hard earned is the most precious.

Right when he is on the verge of losing her does he realize that he loves only her and this will have Jack doing whatever he must to win her love. I like the characters Jack’s dad was a bit of a jerk and there is an unexpected character that will throw a monkey wrench into all Jack’s plan that was rather fun to read. I enjoyed this well written book it was a quick and entertaining piece. I did receive a free copy of this book from Booksprout and voluntarily chose to review it.

  • Charming

Sophie Barnes’ “The Roguish Baron“ Diamonds in the Rough Book 9 Sophie Barnes is a favorite of mine. I was so excited to get this book. We often miss what’s right in front of us and this lovely, emotional story is a testament to that. I enjoyed watching Sophia and Jack come to real life just that. Jack had a rogue’s reputation but thankfully he was redeemed. Sophia was a girl with spirit and not afraid to speak her mind. I enjoyed the banter between the two and this was a sweet Tory with a few twists before they reach their happily ever after. Thank you Miss Barnes for this charming love story.
