    Another superb read

I have read all the Karen Swan books and enjoyed them. Although this was a very different plot and the fact to spanned over 50 years, it was captivating and very difficult to put down. It's difficult to say much without giving anything away but I liked the ending and felt all the questions had been answered. Bring on the next one!

    Superficial

This book was just ok; the characters and storyline were superficial. Elena must be mix of Elizabeth Taylor and Barbara Hutton. “Cesca” being a trained barrister and running off to Italy to meet a handsome Italy... both storylines very cliche. The theme of “all that glitters is not gold” was predictable.

    The Rome Affair

I loved to revisit one of my favourite cities along with the mystery of the rich American turned princess of Roman society. The denouement kept me guessing to the very end. I could not put it down.

    An unsettling and gripping read

This book was a gripping read. I enjoyed the setting of the story, Rome bring a city I don’t know, but could readily visualise through the descriptions. The complexities of the story and the interplay of the main protagonists were revealed bit by bit and the final denumont was really unexpected. Karen Swan is a good story teller. I have read another of her books, but not on Kobo, equally gripping and I intend to read more in the future.
