  • A fun and quick read!

This book sweeps you up! As soon as I finished the first book, I downloaded the second and starting reading right away. The plot was suspenseful and I found it hard to put down.

  • A slow start, but finishes strong

This book was definitely not as good as the first book, but it was still very well done. At the beginning, it was a bit slow, but it caught my interest about 20 percent in. The reason it wasn't super interesting to start was because Khalid and Sharzhad weren't together at the beginning. I love the chemistry, connection, and love that they share, and since Khalid was in the city and Sharzhad was at the camp, I obviously didn't see any of that. That being said, I loved the reunion and the rest of the book with them being together again. I love them so much and just think that they are an amazing couple. The story really picks up once Khalid and Sharzhad are together, and I found it very cute. Let's not forget about Irsa and Rahim. I loved them too, I think they had such a sweet storyline and I am so sad about what happens later. I also love how Renée hints at Yasmine and Tariq (we all know Tariq needs someone) at the end. Despina and Jalal were adorable, but they definitely got put on a back burner in this book. The Rose and the Dagger is such an amazing sequel, and I love pretty much everything about it. The reason for 4 stars is because of the slow start, but I love this book anyways.

  • Satisfied

4.5 stars — Oh wow. So apparently I didn’t write my review, I just thought dumped. And you know what? I’m leaving it. Cause it amuses me. You’re welcome internet. Jalal! NOOOO. Did not like. Rahim!! NOOOOO!!! Loved Irsa, especially as a fellow mouse. Was a bit slow at times, but picked up when Khalid and Shazi reunited right to the end, such a great final 40%. Felt for Tariq. Was satisfied with bad guys comeuppance. Confused about Artan. Loved Omar and Musa. Partially fell for some deceptions. Still love Khalid and Shazi, but sometimes it felt like I didn’t get enough of them (together and apart). Wish her magic had been clarified, or played a bigger part…kind of felt like a useless addition. Conclusion: Satisfied.
