    The Second Wife

The Second Wife by Sheryl Browne is an interesting story with some twists and turns. I enjoyed it, but would have enjoyed much more if I didn't have one of the main plots figured out almost immediately. I was given an early copy to review.

    Wow!

I read an awful lot of books, most of which I enjoy but I don't often feel compelled to write a review. This was an excellent read with twists and turns to keep you guessing and sucked in right to the end! Highly recommend.

The ending makes up for the slow start.

Well I wasn't expecting that twist. WOW! I will say that was not a fan of Rebecca wanting a relationship with Nicole's husband Richard so soon after her death. I think the book would have been better if they were not best friends but acquaintances. The story line jumps around between Nicole and Rebecca. At times I did get confused as to what was going on but not enough to lose the story line. The first half was slow but the second half made up for it and the twist towards the ending made me bump the rating up a star.

    Gripping Psychological Thriller

This one hooks you immediately in a prologue that emerges as a descriptive drowning. Nicole's last thoughts--heartbreaking, tragic, pitiful. Then the well-paced novel proceeds with a look back and divides into multiple POV's. Nicole met Richard which led to a whirlwind courtship and a wedding. The wedding is attended by Richard's daughter, Olivia. Nicole is a damaged MC, naive, trusting, and so in love with Richard, beautiful, sweet, thoughtful Richard, that she will make the effort to work with Olivia--no matter the cost. But it is considerable. Rebecca, Nicole's best friend, attends the service for Nicole and is determined to ferret out the reason for Nicole's alleged suicide. As the POV flips from Nicole to Richard and Olivia, your heart sinks with each twist Nicole discovers and turns to smoldering distrust of Richard, to extreme distaste for Olivia. Rebecca is a cool cucumber, calculating, intelligent, and not easily manipulated. She handles Olivia in an unbiased manner and gradually begins to glean tidbits, reverting to outside sources and finds an ally in Peter. First you are raging at Olivia, then cringing for Nicole. Always hoping for a way out, seeing none, and cannot imagine how the author will find a way to satisfactorily conclude her thriller--is it too late to hope? The range of emotions the storyline evokes sends you through the darkest in family noir. I received an ebook download from the publisher and NetGalley and greatly appreciated the opportunity to read and review. I was glued to these pages and couldn't flip fast enough! Recommended to any who appreciate a good psychological thriller. 4.5/5 stars

    Wow! Amazing thriller!

Wow, this is an amazing suspense filled psychological thriller. When Rebecca's long time friend, Nicole commits suicide shortly after her marriage, Rebecca wants answers. Rebecca becomes closer to Nicole's husband, Richard, while trying to figure out why her friend would have killed herself. She uncovers things that horrify her about Richards life that compel her to keep digging for answers. As the story continues, the twists and turns are so well written you don’t see them coming. The characters are interesting, the plot is riveting and there is a distressing undercurrent throughout that completely captivated me. I loved the way Nicole’s and Rebecca’s lives run alongside of each other and come together at the end. I received this book from NetGalley in return for an honest review.
