    4.5 Steamy Stars

Favorite Quotes: “Wednesdays is when that pair of drill sergeants come in from Beverly Hills for the mid-week boot camp at the park. Nobody wants to miss that.” The blonde seemed to think for a minute. “Well, everybody wants to miss that, but no one dares admit to it, so we all show up and out-Jones each other until we crawl home, whimpering for our mothers.” Maybe I have disaster in my DNA. “Lucas says she’s quite a catch for us.” Wells giggled. “Like we were fishing for her. But she’s been in our house the whole time.” I’ve come to realize that crying and laughing and loving are all important. Necessary. No more hiding anything away. Let’s feel all the feels. My Review: I was unfamiliar with Christie Ridgway, despite her large body of work (109 according to Goodreads), and will admit I flinched and grimaced when I noticed the title contained the word “Billionaire,” ack… however, I was pleasantly surprised and then outright delighted by the interesting and well-plotted storyline, quality of writing, and endearing characters. Sign me up for more as Ms. Ridgway has a magic pen. I enjoyed the overall premise as well as the nibbles and bits served up with hits of humor, amusing and observant details, clever heart-tugs, the precious little boy, predatory single-moms, and intimate scenes that sizzled and snapped, oh my! For a man who had been out of commission with grief for four years, Ethan had a head full of salacious creativity and a mouth full of bawdy talk. For your uninterrupted reading pleasure, I suggest the preemptive plan of ceiling fans on high and cool drinks within reach. You can thank me later.

    Predictable but Fun

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book. This is my first time reading anything in this series. It is book #6 in the Billionaire's Beach Series and #3 in the series about three female butlers but having read none of the other books I did not feel lost at all, so this story easily can stand alone. Charlie/Charlotte is the main character in this story. She has been a butler to our hero Ethan, and his son Wells. Wells is the adopted son of Ethan and his wife who passed away about 4 years before. Charlie has worked for Ethan about 11 months at the start of this book. Ethan travels alot for work so Charlie is sorta a butler/nanny and PA for Ethan and she helps care for Wells. That means she is very involved at Wells school. Ethan at the start of this book is still loving, missing and mourning his wife even though its been awhile. However his boss suggests he start dating and that is what starts to open his eyes up to Charlie as a woman and prospective marriage candidate. But Charlie has a BIG secret. One that needs to be confronted before she can move into any kind of romantic entanglement with Ethan. Her secret to be honest I guessed by chapter 2. But this book is not so much about her secret but rather about letting the past go and moving on. Forgiving yourself and moving forward with your life. It is about realising that you can have a love of your life but also starting a new life with a new partner and opening your heart. Both Charlie and Ethan have to learn how to open their hearts and love and trust and its not always as easy you would think. This book was beyond romantic. It was sweet and serious and really beautiful. Charlie was a wonderful heroine and Ethan was a very honest and caring character. Wells is a sweetheart and I loved getting to know the Archer family.

    Heartwarming!

I felt this was a great read, totally enjoyable with a nice amount of detail pulling you in. I really liked the storyline and thought it had good flow overall. Also really liked that this was a different spin, than I had ever read before and was a original storyline. The ending was endearing though I did think the major conflict, “The Secret” was over rather easily. This is the first story that I have read by Christie Ridgway and I look forward to reading more by this author.

..a sweet tale of heated moments and undying love.

The Secret is a sweet tale of heated moments and undying love. Charlie and Ethan's romance is the type that sneaks up and steals away with the heart. With all the pain endured by each, I wanted them to find some happiness. Ms. Ridgway can get inside the head and capture hold of the heart easily and The Secret is evidence of that talent. Another winning story.
