THE SEXY ONE by Lauren Blakely is a stand alone, erotic romance story line focusing on business investor Simon Travers, and his daughter’s nanny Abby Becker. Although a stand alone story several characters cross over from Lauren’s previous story line: Spencer and Charlotte (Big Rock), and Nick and Harper (Mr. O). Told from dual first person points of view (Abby and Simon) THE SEXY ONE is a forbidden romance story line between twenty six year old, part time nanny / language teacher Abby Becker, and thirty four year old, businessman/single father Simon Travers. Abby has lusted after her employer since the day they first met but as her boss, Simon was strictly off limits. Meanwhile, Simon’s infatuation with his daughter’s nanny forces our story line hero to reconsider his relationship with Abby Becker. What ensues is the building romance between two people who have danced around one another for months The world building focuses on the relationship between Abby and Simon’s daughter Hayden; Simon and Hayden, as well as Abby and Simon. There is no outside conflict brought into the story, only the ‘forbidden aspect’ of Simon’s lust after his daughter’s nanny. Simon is a divorced father, and his feelings for Abby place our heroine temporarily in the off limits zone. The $ex scenes are intimate and seductive. THE SEXY ONE is a sweet, lighthearted and passionate story line with a little bit of humor, romance and steamy $ex. The premise is engaging and heartwarming; the characters are animated and energetic; the romance is playful and alive.

  • Deliciously romantic and genuinely charming!

And I thought Lauren Blakely couldn’t get any better! I so love being wrong! Simon Travers is THE SEXY ONE, all the nannies think so, and so does Abby Becker, the nanny for his daughter Hayden. Abby has been crushing over Simon for the seven months he’s employed her, but one does not sleep with one’s boss, and so she pines in silence while always wishing more, especially after they evening chats. Simon has been ogling Abby discretely since the first time he saw her, but she is the best nanny ever, his daughter loves her; he has no right to jeopardise this business arrangement. If only he dared… What if she dared? Lauren Blakely can do no wrong this year. Starting with Big Rock, and every book that has followed relating the love lives of our New York friends, it gets better and better. THE SEXY ONE is a total delight from the first word to the last, and wait for those excerpts of the awesomeness that is to come this winter! How do you fall in love over French braids, French lessons, watching the eaglets grow? THE SEXY ONE is sweet, passionate, loving, wonderful, beautiful; and I think one of the most genuinely romantic contemporary romances I have ever read. Simon is a gentler version of the previous men in this series of books – you know those covers – and THE SEXY ONE is simply true love translated into words, and this is not easily done. There are such many wondrous moments in this book; every paragraph is poetry and love, and smiles and happiness. And the first kiss? Swoon! Simon and Abby’s love is found in all those little things, the small gestures, the communication, the caring. THE SEXY ONE is a simple yet grand love story: it’s insanely romantic and so genuinely charming! I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.

  • Single Dad and Nanny Romantic Comedy

The Sexy One is a romantic comedy single dad and nanny romance. While it may be a common theme, Lauren Blakely captures it in such a unique way that it feels completely new as you are reading it and I guarantee you will be flicking the pages as fast as I was to find out how this book will play out. I absolutely loved this book with it’s witty writing styles and heart warming characters. Abby and Simon are very likeable and relatable characters with some really quirky personality traits that brings them together (who knew wildlife could be so sexy!). There is a slight age difference theme also, he a few years older than her, and raises a couple of normal issues but in terms of attraction, it was never an issues, more being seen as off-limits being Simon’s daughter, Hayden’s, Nanny. When paired together, Abby and Simon were well matched with a clear mutual respect for the other and have an incredible chemistry and connection that clearly evolves as the book progresses. Both characters are strong and independent but also show their more vulnerable sides and very real emotions and flaws, adding a realistic connection between the characters and readers. Using dual points of views adds a complexity to the two main characters allowing us to get a good rounded look and understanding as the book evolves and the sizzling chemistry that quickly heats after the mutual growing feelings that have secretly been developing into something stronger over a period of time finally can’t be held at bay any longer. There is plenty of fun, sexy moments as Abby and Simon explore the chemistry between them and I especially loved Hayden, Simon’s four going five year old daughter and her interactions with both characters. The Sexy One is exquisitely written with it’s steady pace and perfect flow. The humorous writing style the author manages glides seamlessly into appropriate emotions, whether it be serious or steamy or just playful. The plot is well thought out with very little drama, making this a light hearted read and any tension that arises is handled with a nice maturity by characters rather than with any immature approaches. There is a good steady sensual build up that does not let you down when things crank up to the next level with a just the right amount of steamy scenes in relation to the book where it doesn’t take away from the plot. The sub-characters from previous books by Lauren Blakely help develop the characters a little but you do not need to have read any previous books to follow along as they have no real baring on the characters, allowing this to be read as a standalone with a HEA. Overall, I highly recommend this single dad & nanny romance that I guarantee will leave you feeling all fuzzy and warm, especially with the bonus epilogue we get to add an extra HEA to Abby and Simon’s story. I loved it! *I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book. I was not compensated for my review, and I was not required to write a positive review. The opinion expressed here is my own.
