    Long and Satisfying

It seems like months since I started reading this four book saga. And it has been several months. In that time I went through life changing experiences, from being fully engaged in a career to being retired and spending full time in my "village" home in Lebanon. I see parallels in my journey with the characters in this saga. Like them, I have wondered how much of my fate is pre-ordained by the gods and how much is under my control. How do our choices in life lead to blessings or pain? This saga definitely shaped my emotional and Intellectual journey over these past months. What made the story more satisfying for me was the fact that I have been privileged to visit the actual places where the story took place, to stand among the massive columns in the temple of Amun, and to sail on the Iteru (Nile). The author gave substance to so many daydreams I have had about these places and the people who inhabited them. Even more interesting, in Lebanon, not far from my home, there are places where you can visit tombs of kings who ruled over parts of the Egyptian empire. I found this saga very rewarding and Satisfying.

    Live history Ying reading.

The author has a wonderful ability to capture the essence of ancient Egypt- its people, its atmosphere, daily life -the very smells and flavours of the time. She also renders the characters with depth and complexity, bringing them to life in a very meaningful way. There is a surprising depth to these stories that makes for satisfying reading.

The She King: The Complete Sag

A well written series of four books. The writers style keeps one well engaged in the story and keeps you wanting to read on. This author paints a different picture of the relationship between Hatshepsut and Thutmose than what I have read in other works, but then again this is historical fiction based on inferences on lives 3500 years ago. While specific details may be the artistic license of the author there are many insights to be gained about the lives of ancient Egyptians in this series. Bottom line is that for a fan of historical fiction written around these times this series is a good read.
