  • Another winner

I always look forward to the Bruno books and, again, was not disappointed. Martin Walker keeps events current and develops such rich characters that his stories never lag. On top of this, there's always the bittersweet romance between Bruno and Isabelle to keep readers coming back.

  • An enjoyable read.

Well worth reading. I enjoyed this book very much. Bruno is a terrific character. There is so much of the location , the little things such as local laws, customs and daily routines that add up to make it such an interesting story. It's not just a mystery. It's also a story of the friendships that have built up over the series. I have read every book in this series and would recommend all of them.

  • The shooting at Chateau Rock

A first rate read...and I am hungry for more. I found the Russian connection most interesting and the novel well paced with great local detail, Martin Walker again managed to immerse me in the Perigeux region. The characters are clearly drawn and tension builds. A very good read

  • A satisfying puzzle

Once again a satisfying puzzle with wonderful glimpses of the good life in rural France. And once again I was sorry when the book was finished.
