    Silk Roads an Enchanting Read

The size of this book is certainly intimidating, but Frankopan's The Silk Roads is a real page turner nonetheless. It is a very compelling view of the history of the world from the perspective of the Near, Middle, and Far East. Frankopan generally argues that this part of the world—the world of the Silk Roads—had always been and remains to this day the centre of the world and a key player in world history that has often been neglected in favour of more "Western" histories emphasizing foundations in Rome and Greece. This book highlights some of the key developments in world history that adequately justify the scope of Frankopan's arguments. Still, it should be remembered that this is a general history—albeit with significant details—that reviews over "big picture" historical events, people, and places, and seldom delves into further detail about, say, medieval era Baghdad or a full account of the Ottoman Empire.

    The Silk Roads.

Wow! The Silk Roads reveals how real history, is quite simply, a series of intersecting issues. For example; geography, politics, economics, mental and physical health, as well as culture can all singularly or at the same time combine to create the history found in these pages. If you like history as a subject, The Silk Roads is a must read.
