    Loved it!

Loved this sweet romantic read. I fell in love with these characters immediately. First there is single mom Felicity Shaw and her adorable son Tyler. Felicity has had a string of bad luck lately and needs to find a job desperately. Then there is Scott Gillie. Professional soccer player sidelined by an injury and hating it. He just wants to get back in the game not be taken care of by a pushy personal assistant. Scott's agent hires Felicity for that job with a salary that makes it impossible to turn down. Let the games begin! This is a fun, lighthearted, quick read that I think everyone will enjoy. I definitely recommend it.

    Fun Read

Felicity and Scott’s love story in The Soccer Player and the Single Mom by Kyra Jacobs was truly a fun and enjoyable read. While at the pediatrician’s single mom Felicity Shaw steps in for a missing receptionist while seeing on the news that the company she worked shut their doors without a single notice. Soccer player Scott Gillie is visiting his friend and former teammate hoping for reprieve from his manager, his grandmother, and the okay on his injured knee to return to the sport he loved. Scott’s manager wants to hire a PA for him which Scott wants no part in, while he’s recuperating at his grandmother’s in his small hometown. Felicity’s take charge and organized personality catches the eye of the manager, hiring her on the spot and offering three times what she was making. She is not interested, especially for a stubborn injured playboy but with bills piling up, no other available jobs in the area, and mouths to feed, she really can’t say no to the job. When a fire condemns Felicity apartment, Scott’s grandmother suggests she and her son temporarily move in with them, but Scott is going nuts with the temptation she offers, especially now that she is across the hall. As Scott plots and plans to force Felicity to quits he is surprised to learn that Felicity will fight fire with fire; karma is such a payback. As Scott and Felicity get to know one another they finally become friends and then lovers. Scott has goals he believes he must reach before settling down with a wife and family; until he returns to the game and sees all he is missing. Ms. Jacobs wrote a wonderful, sexy and emotional story that is not to be missed. She provided a tale rich with sexual chemistry, amusing banter, and endearing characters giving Scott and Felicity a chance at love and a future neither expected to make them happy. Side note: this reviewer once live in Indiana, the location for this story, and it brought back many memories. I highly recommend The Soccer Player and the Single Mom to other readers. I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.

    Fun read

3.5 stars. This is the first book that I've read from Kyra Jacobs and I can happily say that I am a fan of her work now. I found this book to be amusing and entertaining to read. Scott might be out and not playing soccer at the moment due to his injury but that does not mean he needs an assistant...well according to him. Felicity might not want to be the personal assistant to Scott but when she loses her job and her apartment catches on fire she has no other option to accept the job. Felicity and Scott might not get along at the beginning but the instant attraction that they feel towards each other is out of this world which soon leads to a lot more. I really liked this book and I can't wait to read more of Kyra Jacob's work. ***Received this ARC by NetGalley as an exchange for an honest review.

PG romance, pleasant but didn't wow me

Scott Gillie is a soccer player with a mission, to get to the national squad, until an injury derails his career. Felicity Shaw is a single mom who has just lost her job when the factory where she worked went into receivership. Their lives collide in a doctor's waiting room where Scott's agent JB makes Felicity an offer she can't refuse - be Scott's PA for a few weeks while he's stuck staying with his grandmother Edna in Quail's Hollow, but Scott isn't going to make it easy ... This was inoffensive, fade-to-black romance. Unfortunately I read it shortly after one with a similar story, Nothing But Trouble which I absolutely adored and this fell short by comparison. There wasn't really any drama or tension or even any plot, just Scott and Felicity dancing around each other and playing house under the watchful eye of Edna and Felicity's son Tyler. I liked it but I didn't love it. I received a free copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley in return for an honest review.

I loved every single minute of this book!

Wildly entertaining! A bucket full of sass from a single Mom, a grumpy soccer player, a feisty Grandma and her dog and a young son make this book one that you just cannot put down! Scott Gillie is a pro soccer player who is nursing an injury and back home with his Grandma desperate to get back on the field, fearing if he's gone too long his back up will replace him. When a plan to circumvent the trainer backfires, he's on strict orders to stay off his knee and gets a single mom PA to boot. Felicity has just lost her job, while waiting for her new little rental house to be ready, her current run down duplex is condemned and she's just been hired by Scotts agent as his PA. His agent has a plan to keep Scott busy and his face out there. Along with that he gives her other work to do, which she handles most efficiently. Especially the angry, spiteful Scott who is determined to make her life so miserable she'll quit and he can do what he wants. She'll have none of that. Meanwhile Grandma has them moving in with them after the fire disaster and makes Scott even more uncomfortable as he really is taking a liking to Felicity and her son Tyler. Scott battles with his feelings towards her and his need to get back out there and play. He's great with Tyler and Scott has his own baggage from his early years and Fe has her share as well. Between the dialogue and watching the story unfold between them, I couldn't put this one down. It made me want more and kept me turning those pages. The ups and downs, along with his Grandmother's sarcasm was a treat! Scott and Tyler were awesome and the spark between Fe and Scott was perfection. I loved every stinking minute of this book. The epilogue was a treat! Another must read from Kyra Jacobs!
