  • Fantastic Thriller!

I must say, I am enjoying reading this type of thriller this summer. They are just so wild and great distractions. This book is split between two times, a year ago and current day, with the occasional journal entry of a serial killer's childhood that was super creepy and interesting. I did have to go back a few times to the beginning of the chapters to remember what time period I was reading but other than that, it was a fast read for me because I did not want to put it down. The Suicide House is about a secret society at Westmont Prep that turns out to be more than what it seems. And anyone who tries to learn the truth, or tell it ends up dead, whether by suicide or something else. I really liked the character of Rory. She was very interesting with the way that she solved cases, as well as her doll restorations. She makes me want to read the other book she is in so that I can learn more about her. Ryder was pretty cool too. I was able to guess the secret before the end, but I still enjoyed it. This was a great book to read!

  • The Suicide House

Charlie Donlea has another winner with The Suicide House. Mr Donlea takes the reader back and forth in time as we try to figure out today what actually happened last year. He merges the two flawlessly and also gives us some edge of the seat moments. I want to thank Net Galley and Kensington Books for an early copy to review.

  • Hot Cold Cases

Rory is a very complex character with a talent to solve cold cases. When her romantic interest leaves for Indiana on a mission to investigate murders and suicides at a Preparatory High School; Rory follows him. Very action packed pages some with gruesome scenes. Any Charlie Donlea novel is worth the read for the skill and action that the author tells. "A copy of this book was provided by Kensington Books via NetGalley with no requirements for a review. Comments here are my honest opinion."

  • First Class!

Rory Moore, a forensic reconstructionist and Dr Lane Phillips, a forensic psychologist and criminal profiler, are part of an investigation into a series of bizarre murders and apparent suicides at Westmont Preparatory High School in Peppermill, Indiana. This exclusive boarding school was the scene of the grisly murders of two teenagers, as well as suicides that might have been related to their deaths. At the time, the case was concluded quickly since the police had evidence that a teacher murdered the students and then later, tried to kill himself. But many unanswered questions still remain, and as Rory and Lane learn more about the troubled students, the stoic culprit, and a dangerous game gone tragically wrong, they become ever more convinced that something sinister is still happening... In The Suicide House the author affects complex, dark, disturbing and highly suspenseful storytelling that drew me in easily. He does an amazing job in providing an authentic portrayal of autism with Rory's wonderful character, making this crime read stand out from others in the genre. As the compelling tale switches smoothly between then and now, dangers lurk amongst the clues, misdirections and red herrings. The dynamics between Rory and Lane are enriching and highly entertaining. I highly recommend this exciting and worthy read to lovers of crime fiction. I received a complimentary copy of this novel at my request from Kensington Books via NetGalley. This review is my own unbiased opinion.
