  • Heart wrenching. Hopeful. Courageous

Heart wrenching. Hopeful. Courageous. Willow was born into a horrible situation, a mother who is a prostitute and really didn’t want a child. For years she has hidden in her bedroom as her mother told her but the hunger would get unbearable. Then one night, she broke the rule and her whole world is flipped upside down. She is sent to live with an Aunt she never knew existed, Addy, her mother’s twin sister. That one night, she puts on a pair of red gloves, her armor to protect herself from all the bad things. As she begins life in a new town and school, can she continue to be invisible? My heart broke for Willow yet at the same time, she kept moving forward, she went to school, she got an after-school job and slowly, she let her Aunt in. At the same time, she found 2 persistent friends, Allison and Sam, that had their own issues but together, they all have to face their own challenges as they traverse high school life. I voluntarily read an ARC of this book and this is my honest review.
