  • Hilariously Amazing

Rick Riordan (as always) delivered a fantastic book that shows that the fourth wall might as well not be there. The character arc in this book is amazing, and the book dives even deeper into Greek mythology. If you're into fantasy, myths, and comedy, I would recommend The Burning Maze for you.

  • A great addition to the series

This book is an excellent continuation of the series. Unlike the previous two, it deals with the harsh realities of being human and the necessity of self-sacrifice. Apollo finally sees what it truly means to be a hero. It breaks him in ways he needed to be broken and I believe he will be stronger for the experience, although I wish he could have learnt it almost any other way. Rick Riordan is an excellent story teller and never breaks stride in his narrative. Be warned, this story is an emotional roller coaster. I look forward to the next instalment.

  • Brings Nature front and center--with some tears

This book has some heartbreaking scenes, but it's my favorite in the series so far--mainly because Grover and Meg are joined in their efforts to save the natural world. So far dryads have been background characters in the books, but in this one they come front and center. And while the ending of this book brings tears, the healing of the earth lifted my heart. At the end, Piper says goodbye, and Apollo and Meg head for Camp Jupiter, where Caligula is planning his attack.

  • Five Stars

This book, like all Rick Riordan series, is fantastic. It is interesting to see the characters from past books have their stories (and endings) play out. I, like most Rick Riordan fans, was devastated to say a heartwrenching farewell to Jason, and I am not in the least bit ashamed to say that I (along with manh readers) have become attached to these stories. What would we do without them?
