  • A whole new twist to Alice's tale

I like the whole post-apocalyptic - strong-willed heroine - Take no prisoner Alpha with a soft underbelly theme Hensley has going on with this series. Alice is tired of killing in the name of science and the quest for world dominance(?). So she ups and walks away. I agree not quite the smartest move from our arrogant, talented yet not so worldly young Alice, but this is how IMO the story correlates with the fairy tale. Our skilled yet naive little killer (There are so many times I wanted to warm her backside!) seems to get herself into one situation after another... thank goodness for White! Rabbit has all the earmarks of a loving protector and a ruthless leader. He sees what Alice can not. He sees the woman inside, the one who has the potential to love and to be loved. He just needs to find a way to bring her to heel and bring her softer side to the surface. This has the sweetest romantic undertone to it and White just clicked for me. There is lots of blood and battles and some animosity from the soldiers - ads a bit of tension to their relationship. Watching Alice find that there is a purpose for love and that it is quite possible to be a warrior and a woman was entertaining.

  • Dark dystopian tale

Alice is caught up in a war between the Cyans and Penna in the frozen Wonderland. She was an archer for the Penna but she was captured by White Rabbit and forced to work as a soldier in the war. The two are enemies but put it aside to become lovers. The true attraction between them shows from the start. This is a dark tale with plenty of spankings and other shenanigans. A good dystopian read. I received a copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

  • Wonderland with a twist

Alta Hensley's creativity and genius with the written word are all evident in this one. It flows beautifully, captures both the imagination and the emotions, and instead of just re-telling Alice in Wonderland she has taken the characters and made them her own. The detail Ms. Hensley puts into her world building is phenomenal and it's easy to envision the desolate, cold, forbidding place Alice inhabits. The setting details are really important to me when the book I'm reading is more fantasy or sci-fi/dystopian. I don't want to become bogged down in them, but I do need to "see" the environment. Ms. Hensley does an amazing job of detailing the world without making it boring. Another thing I really appreciated was the character names all being tied to the original. The strength and fierceness of Alice was great and the commanding Rabbit White was the perfect counterpoint to her. Their interactions were steamy and emotional and I loved them. I highly recommend this one to all romance lovers. This is the second story in this series, but it can be read as a stand-alone.

  • Loved it!

*Happy Dance* I read Cinder too, and a review for that will be posted in the next couple days, but let me move onto Alice which I enjoyed way more than Cinder! Let me just say that this book hit my happy places! It covered everything I wanted to read in a book and didn’t disappoint! Alice is such a strong character and I LOVE LOVE LOVE her and Rabbit together. Just fantastic! I can’t wait to read more of these stories! * I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book. I was not compensated for my review, and I was not required to write a positive review. The opinion expressed here is my own.*

  • Intriguing Post Apocalyptic Romance

I didn't know what to expect from this story, but dove right in. When I first started reading it, I didn't know if I would like it, but then I really got into the story and totally devoured it. Alice is an interesting character, and her view of the Wonderland (the Alice in Wonderland characters were a very nice touch). The battle between Penna and Cyan races was well told. I really got into this story, and that shocked me more than anything. Please note that I did receive an ARC of this book, and the opinions expressed in this review are my own. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
