Love and positivity will see you through!!

Social distancing. Stay home/stay safe. These are new words in our vocabulary which has made us all live, think and work differently. Everything has changed, and I applaud Kennedy Fox and their creative partnership for giving us this wonderful and timely story. Cami and Eli both did the right thing by leaving the city to social distance in the country. They had different reasons for their journey, but it was the prudent thing to do. Their childhood friendship was important to them, but time and distance had kept them apart. Forced to live together during this difficult time brought back memories, both happy and sad, but also allowed them to make new ones and to comfort each other when the isolation became unbearable. Cami needed Eli to help her relax and chase away the uneasiness and he knew just what to do to comfort her. He was her port in the storm and she was thankful that he had come back into her life. Their love had always been there but it just took the long way to bring them back together. Cami and Eli are a fun loving and positive couple who embraced their situation with bravery, courage and laughter. Cami could be herself with Eli and he finally had the chance to show her how he had always felt about her. Despite the fact that they were brought together by horrible circumstances, we can rejoice in their love and be hopeful for their future.

    Great characters and terrific story!

This was a really great story. Despite it having to do with current times, it really took me away from everything and I couldn't put it down. Cami was really loveable despite her "rich" status. She was not your typical high class debutante. And our hero, Eli is a swoony, romantic, "I want one for myself" kind of man. He is hilarious and sexy and knows what he wants. I really enjoyed their enemy type banter at the beginning but the fire started burning and then they were scorching hot together. I really loved the storyline and was never dull and boring. And I loved that the epilogue wrapped things up perfectly.

    Perfect read

I absolutely loved Cami and Eli, the banter between the two of them was hilarious. These two knew each other since kids, as they grew up Eli started picking on Cami like any boy with a crush. After a mix up and the two ending up at the family cabin to ride out the pandemic increasing in New York. Cami growing up in a rich home didn't know the basic life skills. Cooking and laundry were things she was never taught with having maids at home. Even with all the teasing Eli was happy to teach her new things. With being stuck in the cabin together for weeks with these enemies become more.

Fell in love with Kennedy Fox books all over again

It’s been a while since I devoured a Kennedy Fox book and oh boy have I missed it. This was as spicy, funny, relatable, and gets your heart racing in many different ways. This would have easily been a one-sitting book if I hadn’t decided to start it at midnight…I did have a couple of VERY late bed times thanks to these two however. One of my favourite things about Kennedy Fox books is how they manage to write characters with so many different layers to them that there’s always something that I’m able to easily relate to. With Cameron the connection really hit me when she said she fell asleep listening to audiobook that she’s listened to 100 times because the narrator’s voice is so soothing. Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone narrated by Jim Dale and Will Patton reading me The Raven Cycle over and over again are the only reason I’m sleeping through all this shit and it’s nice to know I’m not alone…even if Cami is fictional!! Put next to an heiress, Eli was super relatable on a life level. Sure he was lucky enough to have the cabin to go to because of a wealthy friend but that didn’t make work, bills, and life disappear. I also saw a lot of the things similar to my boyfriend in Eli, from the asthma and always having an inhaler around to the constant feast making, which obviously helped endear him to me. The smallest details make characters wiggle their way into my heart and these two HAD me. Their banter is also cute af and I wish I knew them in real life. As for the story line, I really enjoyed the balance they struck with it. The virus was present, real, and dangerous but it didn’t take over the story. A lot of the time I was lost in the little bubble of the cabin internally yelling at Eli and Cameron to JUST BANG ALREADY. Their connection and day-to-day interactions were just so feisty and fun. For a story that was largely confined to taking place just inside this had me turning pages like a speed demon. I don’t want to say too much because spoilers and all that jazz but in true KF fashion they completely threw me for a loop at one point which is why I love them. Overall it was a very balanced story sensitive to the severity of the current state of the world but also shining some light into the darkness.

Timely romance for a fabulous couple

Wonderful romance to help ease the stress of isolation. I enjoyed Cameron and Elijah’s journey and it provided a way for me to experience quarantine life in a new way, alleviating some of the stress and craziness. This couple get a second chance at love. They met as kids, Cameron is the rich heiress, planning to take over her family’s fashion business, while Elijah’s Mom used to work for Camie’s family and he got to come along allowing him to become friends with Camie and Ryan, her brother. Elijah has loved Camie for years but in high school, Camie pushed him away as she embraced her future and the friends that went with it. With the order to quarantine, Camie escapes to the family cabin in upstate New York to finish college and enjoy the quiet and solitude. Elijah is sent to the same cabin by Ryan to get away from his roommates that aren’t taking the pandemic seriously. Of course, neither expects the other to be there which creates all kinds of drama. I love that this couple already knew each other but had always held back their true feelings. Being forced to live together and deal with the stress that the pandemic has pushed into their lives forces them to be real and honest. It’s not all fun and games which surprised me along the way and kept me devouring each page.
