  • An intriguing start to a trilogy

This book has been recommended to me due to my love for The Traitor Baru Cormorant and A Memory Called Empire. The Unbroken is also about imperialism and the ways it maims colonized societies. From that prospective, it’s an incredibly well-written book with some very relevant attitudes towards “helping” the colonized. Luca’s “just wait until I’m in power and THEN I’ll help you” is painfully accurate to how modern liberals act towards disenfranchised people. I’m excited to see where Clark takes the rest of the trilogy. The only gripe I have is with pacing: a lot of the first 100 pages could have been condensed or rewritten to move the story along.

    Thanks for your feedback!
