    Thumbs down

Duplicates some of the story line of Sorcerer's Ring. Full of errors, repetition, grammatical mistakes, word whiskers, repeated phrases, all getting in the way of a reader's ability to follow and enjoy the story. Sloppy. I think if you've read one of Morgan Rice's series, you've read them all. Everyone falls in love at first sight. Main characters must fight epic battles and be willing to give up their lives for their "true love", over and over again, only to be miraculously saved at the last instant. In this series, Rice actually has the main character, Caitlin, go back in time through a series of quests and vampire wars, to meet Jesus and Mary Magdalene and find out they were her long lost parents. Everything is unrealistically high, large, best, worst, etc.. the phrase "had ever seen" is used so often it's ridiculous. Another phrase shared by both series, "sister she never had" although seen more frequently in Sorcerer's Ring, appears here as well. There are continuity errors throughout. For example, in one book, they travel Route 99, whereas in the next, they travel Route 9 but it's obvious they are supposed to be on the same road. Another example, they are at Boldt Castle in the Thousand Islands of the St. Lawrence River, but suddenly they are battling the sea and then the ocean, all while at the Castle! Another, the castle is on an island, not connected to the mainland, only accessible by boat, but they are able to steal a motorcycle and drive off the island. In summary, the series is sloppy, poorly written, probably never proofread, and repeats other story lines, in some places, word for word. The themes are almost the same. One saving grace is that the characters are sympathetic. However, the situations are improbable and overblown, and repetitive.
