    A welcome departure

The Verdant Passage is not your typical D&D novel, nor is Dark Sun, the setting it introduces, your typical D&D setting. The world here is harsh and brutal, as are the character, including the heroes.

    Decent

The setting was interesting, the characters were almost not two dimensional and the plot was fairly twisty and original. Sadly suffers from what all these old Dungeons and Dragons books suffer from, with poorly scripted fight scenes and descriptions of magic direct from the rule books.
