    The Wedding Pact

What a ride, it was wild, enjoyable, at times sweet, other times messed up but overall such a beautifully told story so much so that my heart sighs at the thought of James and Carrigan, I loved their journey. I truly love this series and cannot wait to read the next book, An Indecent Proposal. I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review

    Love is strange

This is the 2nd book in The O'Malley's series. This book can be read as a standalone novel. For reader understanding and enjoyment, please read this series in order. The contents in later books may have spoilers. Carrigan and James have a hot history of hookups and kidnapping. Complicated does not begin to cover this. They are attracted to each other in a very electric way. James cannot stop thinking about her. He knows her father intends to marry her off to another man and it is eating him alive. Carrigan is out of time and options for her future. James is her one vice. This book was so full of heat it was nearly on fire! The story is fast paced and steady. Some of our favorite characters make appearances too. I think this series is incredible. If you love a slow and fierce burn this is the book! ***This ARC was given by Netgalley and its publishers in exchange for an honest review.

    Emotionally charged story!!!

Very emotional, fantastic mob-style romance. Different territories, different ruling families and someone's bound cross the lines. In the second story of The O'Malleys series it's Carrigan's turn. She doesn't want any of the men her father's chosen for her to marry. She wants the one man she shouldn't want. The one man she can't have. James Halloran. The story is full of sadness, uncaring and crazy fathers and through all the emotional ups and downs, there's love. It's a love that I didn't think was possible. There's so much action in the story that everything happens at a fast pace. For me, it felt like the story only slowed down during those perfectly intimate scenes between James and Carrigan. SIZZLING! There are so many O'Malley siblings and so little time. I can't wait to read more of this series from this amazing author. Received a copy via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. I was not compensated for my review. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinion expressed is my own.

A taut, sexy, action packed romance!

I enjoyed this story as much as the first one! It’s a tight blend of action, sex and suspense, with family dynamics playing an important role in the actions and reactions of the characters. James, though somewhat of a villain in the first story (for reasons!) is now in charge of his family business, a job he never wanted, but one thrust upon him when his father went to jail and his older brother was killed. He’s trying to get the family on to more of a legal path, getting out of the illegal flesh trade (a sore spot with his younger brother who is trying to keep them in it), offering the girls at the strip club choices and generally trying to protect the people who depend on him. In a world of bad guys, he’s the one with a heart and a conscience. His attraction to Carrigan is foolhardy but undeniable. She’s the daughter of the enemy, and their history is fraught with bad decisions and unforgivable choices. Carrigan comes across as a woman with spirit but no power. She’s under the thumb of her controlling father, and a mother who will protect her but only to a point She has a hit and miss relationship with her siblings, particularly since the death of her brother Devlin (shot under orders by a Halloran). When she can, she lets loose at a nightclub, which is where she meets up with James again and starts up her affair with him, knowing her family would be furious if they found out she was consorting with the enemy. And once her father gives her the short list of suitable husbands, Carrigan knows her days are numbered. Desperate to enjoy the time she has left, she can let go with James, and they share several steamy scenes together where they both get exactly what they want. But along the way, they share more than just sex, revealing bits and pieces of their dreams and hopes for the future, things they can’t share with any others as it would make them appear weak. I loved seeing the two of them open up to each other and develop a measure of trust between them. The story moves along swiftly as James must deal with the fallout of his brother’s choices, and Carrigan’s days of freedom end more quickly than she expected. There’s a healthy dose of suspense as the story nears its end, and lots of action as the two lovers find a way to be together once and for all, despite the odds. This was an excellent addition to the series, with cameos from the rest of the O’Malley family that hopefully will all get stories of their own. Carrigan has four more siblings who are unattached so there is a lot of potential for this crime family to keep us entertained for a while. 5 stars for this taut, sexy thriller.

    Emotional. Riveting.

Book one sucked me and made me fall in love with this trio of crime families, and I haven’t been the same since. Book two cements that love, especially for Carrigan and James, whose forbidden, clandestine affair is the main focus of The Wedding Pact. Carrigan is everything I love in a heroine: strong, intelligent, gutsy, and determined. James, despite being thrust into being the head of the Halloran crime organization and having to carry out unspeakable acts, is an alpha male with a soft heart. He’s determined to find ways to legitimize the Halloran businesses and protect those in his care. He and Carrigan try to resist one another, but the attraction between them is too elemental and undeniable. When they come together, it’s explosive. I love everything about this story, especially the author’s perfect portrayal of the emotional conflict and torture some of the characters suffer. They are trapped, almost helpless, manipulated, and controlled by their families and the weight of their responsibilities. They yearn to lead lives of their own choosing, not the lives they’ve been forced into just by virtue of being born into mafia families, yet fear leaving behind those families and all they’ve ever known. The author illustrates their pain so thoroughly my heart aches for them. The Wedding Pact is dark, emotional, intense, riveting, and incredibly sensual. It made me laugh, cry, curse, horny, and my heart literally pound in fear and anticipation. I’m completely invested and cannot wait to see how good triumphs over evil when these characters get their HEA in book three. 4.5 stars
