    Great Dialogue/Great Story

    Clockers is still my all time favorite but this one is not bad. I love how realistic his characters seem to be. You can never put them on a pedestal and it adds to the "unpredictability" of the plot. Without giving too much away, the two mysteries/sub plots playing out in tandem would give most cops a heart attack! But it operates on a slow burn level until near the end, the dialogue is that good. Tense, sparse.. with every single character exercising restraint. A solid read!
