This book begins by asking, “Why should any Man desire to Help the Pastor through the office of a deacon?” It further explores the "Must Be of the Deacon" and his spiritual and social qualifications to fulfill the work of service in the church and assisting the Pastor in the work of ministry.

The New Testament deacon came into existence because the Apostle Pastors (Acts 6:1ff) of the Church in Jerusalem needed assistance to help people. In 1 Timothy 3:8a and following, the apostle Paul established for the Church, lead by Timothy, the “Must Be of the Deacon,” listing the spiritual and social qualifications needed to fulfill the work of service, in the body of Christ, and help the Pastor in the work of ministry.

The question before us is, “Why did the apostle Paul bring forward the work of and the word deacon in 1 Timothy 3?”
