What a fantastic start to a new series!

Cooper and Rebecca’s story made me fall in love, not only with them but with Stacey Lynn all over again. She always delivers a heartfelt and raw story while bringing depth and emotion to each of her characters. Their pain becomes your pain, and their love for one another becomes more palpable with each moment. The author also organically and seamlessly unfolds their story, giving them an opportunity to heal, find peace within, and experience love beyond what they could ever imagine. As with all her stories, Stacey has Cooper and Rebecca living in the real world. Their problems are ones that we all could face. They have realistic expectations of what they want in life. There's also a sense of community and family among their friends, so much so, that you could see yourself living your life right alongside them. Yes, Cooper is a Hollywood heartthrob on the run from his turbulent life, but he's so much more than that. After all, isn't he just a person doing a job he loves? Like most everyone, Cooper wants to be happy. Fortunately for him (and us), his agent and Rebecca's uncle, Max, decides to step in, giving him a little push while helping his niece out at the same time. While Cooper is open to this new adventure of life on a farm, Rebecca fights his intrusion with every ounce of control she has left. She’s so deep in her despair and need to prove herself that she won’t allow happiness back into her life. And with Cooper charming his way through her friends, she desperately clings to her ability to keep him at arms length. Through their interactions during daily activities, learning to work side by side and through their emotional turmoil, Rebecca begins to see the steadfast, caring man that Cooper is. Furthermore, she realizes he may be the only person to whom she can tell her secrets and find solace from her pain. As she begins to let go, Rebecca struggles to find closure in regard to her husband's death. I feel like she needed to have a heart-to-heart with his best friend, Ryan, about what happened. It seemed like it would have helped her find peace much sooner in regard to that chapter of her life. As we navigate the rocky terrain of infidelity, death, and letting go of the past, we witness something purely exquisite develop between Cooper and Rebecca. I loved watching their healing journey and once again living a life full of passion knowing that this time around love would endure. I can't wait to see what Stacey has in store for us with the rest of this series! I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Readers Copy of this book.

    excellent read

I wasn't real sure what I was getting into with this book I mean we all know you can't always trust the blurb. What I found from this author that is new to me is a well written story that took an ordinary topic and made it an excellent read. Both parties are jaded when it comes to love and both have wounds they are licking. The chemistry is there but so is their past. This author does well in presenting a story that is well thought out and plotted to keep you hanging on to every page. Before you tire of the angst and indecision the author moves on. No lone dialogues that lead nowhere and descriptions that are meaningless. Just characters that are real and lovable and dear to the heart. Learning not only to accept help but to accept love is not always easy but good friends and an awesome mate make life a little easier. This author is new to me and so is this series. I can say this book ended and not on a cliffhanger so it is safe to say they are all standalones with carryover characters. This gives you more time to fall in love and get to know them all.

    Hollywood and the Rancher

Hollywood and the Rancher Cooper Hawke is Hollywood’s heartthrob. He’s currently outrunning the paparazzi and leaving LA in the dust from the wreckage of his divorce. He thought it was forever with his wife, Camilla, instead, he was blindsided by what was really happening behind his back. His agent, Max, secrets him out to his niece’s ranch in Carlton, Kansas for the summer. What better way to numb the betrayal and heartache than back-breaking, hard work. Rebecca Splendid didn’t want help or company on her ranch. She hasn’t had a man on the property since her husband died seven months ago. But she can’t say no to her Uncle Max, and as a favor to him agrees to accept the help. There is more to Cooper than the sexy actor he shows his public. Rebecca never expected to like him, but finds Cooper endearingly patient, down to earth, and willing to learn everything about ranching from her. Both are still hurting from a shared experience of personal loss and betrayal. Rebecca and Cooper forge a friendship but soon they realize an attraction between them. But Rebecca has a secret that has built the walls around her heart finding it hard to trust again. Favorite quote: “This man in front of me...was a man who entered my life when I didn’t want anyone around and he kicked down my walls and shattered my windows.” I love how the relationship is one long-simmering boil. It is such a sensitive subject about finding love after loss and betrayal and the author handles it with sensitivity, emotion, with and lots of soul-searching. Ms. Lynn weaves a story about healing, hope, and a second chance at love with a wonderfully satisfying and swoon-worthy ending. I received and voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.

    Brilliant, sweet and sexy.

This Time Around by Stacey Lynn was more than just a simple man meets woman and falls in love. There was heartbreak and confusion… on both sides. Rebecca is still reeling from the death of her husband and revelations that she had challenged him about before his accident. She feels partly responsible for what happened. She’s struggling to run her farm alone and needs help but refuses to ask for it, she just wants to be left alone. It doesn’t help matters that some of her neighbors are sabotaging her efforts to stand alone, so when her uncle suggests he sent someone her way, she wants to say no. Cooper couldn’t be more different from Rebecca. As a top Hollywood actor he’s constantly in the limelight, especially now that he’s going through an acrimonious divorce from his wife. He’s tired of all the lies and being hounded by the paparazzi and needs some alone time to clear his head. Two birds, one stone, Rebecca’s uncle thinks. Forced to spend time together the two bang heads at first, but Cooper soon comes to appreciate what Rebecca has to offer. He even likes the farm work. This is sort of a slow burner, with the sexual tension between them growing ever hotter by the day. Something had to give though and eventually they are both admit feeling the strong attraction to each other, but only in their own heads. Will they act on these feelings and give in to their desires? Only time and the story will tell. This is quite a suspenseful story, filled with heat and secrets giving it unexpected depth that I really enjoyed. The secondary characters were interesting too, and some are sure to play a starring role in upcoming additions to this new ‘Love In the Heartland’ series. Looking forward to more from this series and author.

    Off to a great start

4.5 star Review This Time Around (Love in the Heartland #1) By Stacey Lynn This was an emotional roller coaster of a ride to read with moments of grief, anger, guilt, romance, passion and oh so much more.   Escaping from a bad marriage break up, actor Cooper Hawke is given the opportunity to escape the press by staying and helping out on Rebecca Splendid’s ranch. Cooper has no idea that Rebecca is a widow, and is surprised by her manner and sharpness at times. Once he knows the truth it all begins to makes more sense. Told in dual POV’s I found both the leads to be strong, yet vulnerable characters; two people broken and without realising it, desperate to heal and find true happiness. I was entranced with the story that Ms.Lynn wove, wanting desperately for Cooper and Rebecca to open their eyes and their hearts, to give love a chance to grow. The chemistry between them was blazing, with the romance slowly building between the movie star and the rancher. I was drawn to Cooper almost immediately, Rebecca not so much, but as their story unfolded she grew on me, particularly as the depth of her hurt was revealed. This is an emotional read and one that is well written with characters who are believable and easy to relate too. The secondary characters were just as interesting as Cooper and Rebecca and I hope to read their stories in the not too distant future.
