Many have tried and succeeded but you have FAILED!

I bought this book as an recommendation from a friend. I read the first chapter and found it to be total crap. The Story arch and characters have no depth. The whole book seems to push an political agenda that is rivaled by a narcissistic crybaby. There seems to be an underlining push for race and gender appropriation in the book. As a transgender WOC i found this book to be very distasteful and not appropriate at this time. I read to escape politics not be reminded when i want to escape to a fantasy. I mainly use the book now as a door stop. I really cant say much more about this book as i found it to just bore me as i read.

    Shallow and Pedantic

This review comes with a heavy heart to give such a negative review on this book. I obtained a copy from my colleges LBGTQA+ resource center. Upon reading the book i wanted to indulge in the fantasy. Every time when i got into the book i would be met with a political agenda. Im a simple person who enjoys the transgender rights as much as the next person but this books underlining theme pushes it way to far. Characters were unoriginal and bland, and Transgender propaganda as well was highly touched on in this book. I cant understand how the author could form their opinion in such a matter and try to push an agenda through a fantasy novel. I hope the next books come with dinner because im screwed out of my time if so.

Social Justice Pamphlet meets Paper Brick

I was shocked by the amount of rehashed social justice talking points in this book. Unoriginal and downright insulting to my transgender family. Obscure names and bizzaro-land politics a good book do not make. The author should do some more research before using my people to sell e-books. 2/5 if only for the obvious use of grammarly and the potential to not be an eyesore. Do better with your next few books please.

Disclaimer: Although this book was sent to me to review by the publisher I have not been payed to write this review. All opinions expressed are my own and are completely honest. Pros: -Realistic and respectful representation of the LGBTQA+ community -LGBTQA+ characters are well written and not defined by their sexuality or gender identity -Racially diverse -Incredibly immersive -Who doesn’t love a book with a map in it? Cons: -Starts off fairly slow -The character names and politics of the world are difficult to keep straight at first If you want a book to take you to a different world entirely Those Apart is perfect for you. I cannot wait to read the next book in this series!
