  • Fund read with a bit of suspense!

This was a very enjoyable read. I like that the author went outside the box and switched gender roles with their jobs. Kristy is a cop and Don is a wedding planner. Both in a field that leans more to the opposite gender. As much as I agree with the moral of the story that we all should be free to choose to do what makes us happy, I gotta admit it did seem strange that a straight guy would want to be a wedding planner. It took a bit of getting used to for me but what helped is that Don was pure Alpha male. This was a mix of funny, serious and romantic. It's not a story that will blow you away but a fun read when you want lighthearted. It's well written and I will be reading more from this author. ARC provided by NetGalley.

Ticket to Love was a straight-forward romance with a cozy mystery element that helped make it a page-turner. The descriptive writing detailing the town and environs were a highlight. The exact kind of town that I would love to visit and explore. While I found both the H/h very likable, the romance was fairly sedate with some added conflict due to the mystery. If not for the mystery, I might have set the book aside. Matthews did a great job keeping me invested and interested in the outcome. Overall, enjoyable with added interest into the romances of possible future characters. (This is my voluntary and unbiased review of a complimentary copy of Ticket to Love via Ebook Discovery.)

  • The best and worst of small town living

Butting heads with her family and four older brothers, Kristy has her hands full trying to reach the elusive promotion that she has been promised, whilst keeping everyone out of her business. If it's not bad enough that her brothers have firm ideas about her role as a cop, the rest of the males in Cedar Falls are friends with her brothers, and by proxy, they are just as protective as her brothers. Kristy just can't win. When Don comes to town as a wedding planner for her best friend, the town takes sides about another gender-appropriate role! Having a relationship between two healthy young people with similar interests proves almost impossible. But when there is an opportunist in town, taking advantage of the community, with fingers pointing towards Don because of his family connections, Kristy has a hard time being professional. The basic plot of the story is good and the book generally well written. There were a few laugh out loud moments, and the author painted a pretty good picture of small-town life. I received this book for free from eBook Discovery. I voluntarily post this review. This is my honest review.
