    Fun entertaining read

I really loved this one and it's classic Lauren Layne at her best. Lots of snark, a little angst, and the eventual HEA. This series reminds me of the Sex, Love, & Stiletto series but instead of working for a magazine, these entertaining women work as wedding planners. They are all strong, independent, and successful and able to hold their own with the men in their lives. Can't wait for more stories from these ladies. Brook Baldwin is looking for a fresh start in NY. After her own wedding spectacularly implodes on the big day, customers are leaving her successful wedding planning business in the dust. So taking this job and starting over is the right move for her. Her first client is one of the toughest she's ever had. Well, not the bride, she's great. The bride's brother not so much. He's bossy, opinionated, and oh so sexy. He thinks his sister is about to make the biggest mistake of her life and wants Brook to help make the wedding never happen. A little difficult considering she's planning the event! But Seth is determined to stop this one way or another! A fun entertaining read that I would highly recommend.

    All I want

This book is book # 1 in The Wedding Belles series, however, there is a prequel to help you get settled in with the characters. This is a standalone novel. I recommend reading series in order for reader understanding and enjoyment. Brooke and Seth rub each other the wrong way right from the start. She is planning his sisters wedding, so she is basically hands off. Unfortunately for both of them - all they want is hands on. Seth is busy trying to stay above water. He has so much going on he has no idea some days. With his sister springing an unknown fiance on him, his suspicions arise. I am already loving this series so much! The characters are fun and original. I feel like they are very real. I could not put this book down. I cannot wait for the next installment. The sexy times & the banter are worth it. ***This ARC copy was given by Netgalley and its publisher for an honest review.

Lovely start to a new series!

I loved this story! Lauren Layne has the knack of putting really likable characters into fun situations where you can't help but root for a happy ending. In this case Seth and Brooke are at odds right from the start. It doesn't help that she at first mistakes him for the groom and horrifyingly realizes that the zing she feels on seeing him is sexual attraction. Though it's quickly cleared up and she finds out he's the single brother of the bride, Seth is quick to get into Brooke's bad books with his insufferable attitude and determination to make things difficult for Maya at every turn. It's not that he doesn't love his sister, he just believes he knows what's best for her, and marrying Neil isn't it. I loved Seth and Brooke together, once they get past their prickly introduction. Brooke knows that Seth is well meaning, even if he comes across as overbearing. The problem for her is that he's a client, and getting involved with him, right when she's just starting her career over again is a serious problem. Fortunately her boss doesn't seem to think that a sex only fling will be an issue and when she's given the green light, and Seth is very willing, they share some sexy scenes together. But the problem for Seth is that he likes to be in control. And this tendency to want to control those around him drives his current relationship with his sister, and then with Brooke too. As such he tends to overstep boundaries with the best of intentions, resulting in conflict that he's created – and now he has to fix. Brooke's co-workers at The Wedding Belles are a mixture of characters, ranging from the slightly more flighty Heather to the very serious and under control Alexis. I enjoyed the contrast in their characters and how they are able to work together to pull off all sorts of weddings (and fix the disasters inherent in the planning). It was fun to take a look behind the scenes at how wedding planners pull everything together and fans of TLC shows that deal with weddings will find a lot to love about this story. The happy ever after ending for Brooke and Seth is quite lovely and I'm anticipating that the next two in the series will be just as good as this one. 5 stars!

Great wedding story book! Loved it!

I have never read this author before but I love wedding stories and wanted to try this one...Wow! I'm sorry I waited so long to try this author out. Lauren Layne created a wonderful story with believable characters and I just adored the ride. Brooke Baldwin was a happy, bubbly wedding planner in Los Angeles, CA. She planned the biggest and most important wedding of her career...her own. The only problem, during the ceremony the FBI storm in and arrest her groom. Embarrassed and devastated, Brooke heads to New York City to take a job with The Wedding Belles, NYC's premiere wedding planners. Brooke's first wedding is for Maya Tyler, daughter of the Tyler Hotel Group's CEO who just recently passed away. Since Maya has no living parents, her older brother Seth, who is now the CEO, decides to become involved in the planning because he is suspicious of her recent fiance. While Maya is free spirited and fun, Seth is controlled and no-nonsense. At the first meeting, Brooke is very attracted to Seth until he opens his mouth. OMG...I just loved these two. They were so different on so many things, yet so similar in other ways. I really enjoyed the road these two took to finally get together. Ms. Layne knows how to write some fun, entertaining dialog. And their happy ending was perfect and well deserved for these two! I really enjoyed all the other characters too....Alexis and Heather (the other Wedding Belles), Maya and especially Seth's best friend, Grant. I would love to see Grant's back story! Overall, I really loved the book and look forward to reading the rest of the series.

A fun start to the series

It's always a pleasure to pick up a book by Ms. Layne and this being a wedding-themed romance, I was doubly excited to get my hands on it, but for the first time since I started reading her books, I struggled to finish one. It had everything to do with the characters and it may simply be because I was expecting something different. If you find out a few minutes before your wedding that your groom is a con man wanted by the law, putting a huge expanse of land between you and the ensuring fiasco is the best course of action, as Brooke Baldwin discovered. While her reputation and her wedding plan business was destroyed in the wake of the scandal, Brooke is determined to start over, much wiser and certainly much less trusting of men and their motives. Her new job with The Wedding Belles is the perfect place for her to do so and a multi-million dollar wedding is the way to go. If it didn't come with a micromanaging control freak in the form of the brother of the bride holding the purse strings. Seth Tyler doesn't trust that his sister's unexpected engagement isn't a ploy by her fiancé to get into her trust fund but he needs help to prove it and if that means getting involved in the minutiae of wedding planning, then so be it. Too bad that the wedding planner is not open to his plan at all. Seth and Brooke are as opposite as can be. Seth is straightforward and controlling. His close management style is definitely not a fluke and while it comes from a good place, it's not necessarily seen that way, but there is no doubt that he loves his sister. Brooke on the other hand is sweet and friendly, in fact the stereotype of a California surfer girl with a bubbly and fun personality, which suits her job. And the sparks between them are enough to light up the night. So what can go wrong? With the way this book started, there was so much to look forward to and when it picked up, was really enjoyable. It was sweet and fun, passionate and entertaining, as you would expect from Ms. Layne. One positive for me was that Seth was unexpected because he was quite different from her usual heroes. He was more buttoned up and less of a ladies' man. Another positive was Brooke. She was strong and very self-aware, she knew what she wanted and went after it. However, Brooke and Seth just never seemed to mesh for me until the end especially because of their rough start. I'll say this: the second half of this book was everything I was looking forward to and I have high hopes for the next book.
