    Hot, hot, hot!

I FLOVED this book!! Tortured Skye is book 2 in Gwyn McNamee's Hawke Family series...I thought Savage Collision was a amazing debut novel, but Gwyn surpassed my expectations and blew me away with Tortured Skye! Skye has loved Gabe for most of her life, unfortunately he's her brother's best friend & fights his attraction to her every step of the way. Gabe knows he shouldn't want Skye, but it's getting harder & harder to fight both his feelings for her & the demons of his past...How can he have everything he wants without risking the only "family" he has ever loved. I won't say any more because I don't want to give you any spoilers, but I will say that I couldn’t put it down! The feelings I experienced while reading Tortured Skye were all over the board...smiles, frustration, love & yes, even tears. And I can't forget to say that it was also smoking HOT!! (I can’t wait to see what happens in book 3!!)

stormy only just begins to describe their relation

I love Gabe. He's so torn up about so many things. And to have feelings for his best friend's sister is just messing him up big time. Skye is awesome. She's sort of a no-nonsense type of girl, but she's been through a very rough time. Having feelings for her brother's best friend is painful and she's just about had enough. These two together....stormy only just begins to describe their relationship. Holy Hannah do they make fireworks. To be so torn over falling for someone and to try to rationalize why you should (or shouldn't) is simply crazy. This cracker read by Gwyn McNamee will keep you on your toes. Definitely some surprises this time around. I loved it.

    Incredible and emotional

I could not wait to read this book, but the wait was well worth it. Tortured Skye is unbelievably amazing! I loved reading about Gabe and Skye, and the path that they had to go on to get to their ending. Their path was not an easy, straight one; they had big obstacles, diversions and roadblocks all to contend with. Though the biggest road block for these two was Gabe himself. I'm so glad that everything turned out amazing for these two and that they got their HEA. That these two were able to save each other from their own demons. I can't wait to read the next book in the Hawke Series.

    A hauntingly beautiful romance

Sigh … I have to admit, I fell in love with Gabe in Savage Collision – yeah, Savage is da bomb, but Gabe’s quiet loyalty was something special. Now, he’s forced to confront ALL his demons after allowing himself to consider the one thing he knew was totally off-limits – Savage’s tough-as-nails sister, Skye. Even though Skye has loved him since forever, she knew Gabe was the one guy Savage just simply wouldn’t allow her to have. Gabe also knows a relationship with Skye is the only thing that would kill his ride-or-die friendship with Savage. Going beyond the usual best-friend’s-little-sister story, this amazing book delves deep into the characters’ psyches, exposing not just their feelings for each other but their relationships with Savage as well. It’s not just that Savage doesn’t think Gabe is good enough for Skye, or that Skye is not right for Gabe. The ties that bind these people together go far beyond DNA and a shared childhood, and the traumas of the past must be dug up and aired out in the full sun before any of them are ready to contemplate their future together. As a romance, this book is a standalone, but some of the issues that feature heavily in this story started in the previous book, so a reader will understand more of the backstory having read Savage Collision first. The Hawkes are a family well worth getting to know; I guarantee you’ll love these characters and wish you could live in their world. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

    Torturingly Wonderful!

5 Stars Tortured Skye is the second book in the Hawke Family Novels Series by the supremely talented Gwyn McNamee. It is a very spicy and erotic contemporary romance that will tantalise you from the very first page and hold you enthralled right till the end. Skye Hawke comes across as snarky, sassy, hot-headed, independent and a little on the stubborn side- but most of that is a facade she puts up to hide her pain and vulnerability. You see, Skye has endured a heartache that most people could never fathom and more often than not it takes all her energy to just get through each day. She harbours a lot of guilt for what transpired and living with this regret is slowly devouring her soul, piece by piece. She was attending a special family function where everyone was so joyous in their celebration- which only serves to remind Skye of everything she had lost, and caused all her suppressed feelings to come bubbling to the surface, all at once- triggering an overwhelming emotional meltdown. Skye feels like she’s barely holding on, her life is crumbling around her like sand banks pounded by the ocean. She is distraught, completely adrift in her private sea of pain and desperate to tether herself to something before she is completely swept away. Then in walks the man she’s felt a powerful connection to for so long now. The man she has had a crush on since she was a teenager. She clings to him and kisses him passionately, and felt him kiss her back…..but then he just walked out, leaving her there in pain and now also suffering the sting of rejection. She has avoided him ever since, but how long can that last. After all he is her brother’s best friend and an honorary member of their family. Gabe Anderson has his own demons that haunt his days and torture his nights. This has led him to ‘self-medicate’ on a prescription of alcohol and sex. He doesn’t do commitment, just a lot of hooking-up. He has always been closer to the Hawke’s, than his own family and values his friendship with Savage. Gabe has always felt a strong bond between himself and Skye- and appreciated that she had grown into a beautiful woman, but had never really thought about it- until that kiss. Now he can’t get her out of his mind and the memory of it is consuming him. He feels that he would be risking everything- completely jeopardizing his relationship with Savage, as well as his job and his heart - if he were to get involved with Skye. He also feels that because of his demons, he isn’t worthy of her. But now that he’s had a taste of her lips, he doesn’t know if he’ll be able to resist her. With other factors at play in this story, as well- Ms. McNamee masterfully wove a story that absorbed me to a point where reality ceased to exist. I would love to tell you more, but I wouldn’t want to spoil it for you- so please do yourself a favour and discover the wonderful world of the Hawkes for yourself- you really won’t be disappointed. Even though we met Skye in the first book, we didn’t really get to know her very well. I had decided that I didn’t really like her very much- but since getting to understand her more from this story, I really have come to appreciate her and think that she and Gabe really are a perfect match. I loved Gabe from the moment he is introduced in the first book, he intrigued me and I wanted to know more about him. This book gave me all the answers I was looking for, plus some. Ms. McNamee has a real talent for writing with emotion and the ability to connect her readers to the story and characters. I felt for Skye and Gabe and everything they’d been through- and I was with them every step of the way as this story transpires….. There’s so much emotion that at times Ms. McNamee had me free-falling through the spectrum of feeling, like a base jumper chasing an Adrenalin high. Wow, what a ride! One thing Ms. McNamee seems to be able to do better than most, is a raunchy, spine tingling, knee tremblingly HOT sex scene- and this story sure doesn’t disappoint. You have been warned, spare panties will be required! I have said it before and I say it again, Gwyn McNamee should be on everyone’s MUST READ list- her books really ARE that good. She has found her place on my favourite author list and I can’t wait to devour her next book. Thank you Ms. McNamee!
