    Excellent prequel!

4.5 Stars! “This is the universe. A swirling, never-ending, wonderful mystery...How could anyone not want to explore it?” A young spoiled, reckless man, son of one of the wealthiest and prominent noble Imperial families, dreams of only flying and see the worlds, be free. An unsuspecting turn of events, least expected twists, an excellent in-depth of characters, the strict academy life, all throbbing into a finale crescendo. Great world building. A lesson of Humility for Humanity. I’m certainly going to follow up the whole series! I received an early version of this book from the publisher and my review is entirely voluntary.

A fairly quick but enjoyable read in one night

Just choosing randomly authors like, James David Victor from a General Science Fiction year-end Newsletter to follow, along with a few others, to give my honest unbiased reviews. Having reviewed, worked and collaborated with some of the greatest authors of all time, in the science fiction / fantasy and dystopia genres. And with an extensive library of over 5,000 books, some signed since the 60’s and having never read any of this authors work before, here is my first impression, having just finished it last night. Having just finished the Trevalyn Academy book by James David Victor, my personal opinion is Eliard is a spoiled young man born into wealthy noble house and is clueless about what is happening in the world around him. He is arrogant and reckless. Winds up getting into major trouble by killing someone while racing his racer, after being found, is injected with Nano technology that repairs his body and is sent to the academy for some self-discipline, by his father in which he hates this captivity. Eliard learns by injection while he sleeps and begins to realize how his actions and other boring junk like politics, can actually lead to life-or-death situations. He proves not to be just another recruit at the Trevalyn Academy and proves to be very resourceful in his actions and there’s plenty of action, but there’s also some tough life experiences Eliard is put through. In all though, it’s a good read and the author weaves this story to keep you interested in finding out what will happen next. Eliard life I believe will become more complicated in any additional books written by this author. It is well written and interesting enough that when you finish, you want to look forward to reading more about this world and the characters interactions. I look forward to reading more of this series, if given the chance and giving my honest opinions. Dennis – Top Sargent
