Trouble in Action several deadly mysteries unfold

In Trouble in action, Trouble is in North Carolina where his human, Tammy Lynn, is attending to several writers and book signing functions. This gives Trouble some free time which he spent following a young intoxicated women around growing increasingly worried about her safety and well-being. Wolf is in the same bar and watches as the woman is bothered by some pushy guys and decides to protect her. Kylah agrees to let Wolf take her to her hotel where he leaves her to sleep off the alcohol excess. Kylah is a stunt rider on horses she trains to perfection. She was contracted to perform at the first annual re-enactment of the battle of Albrecht Creek. She and her right hand man have been practicing daily but on the day following the drinking session a woman was killed with an old Calvary style revolver. Wolf is asked by the local sheriff to assist in the case and gets to meets Kylah and Jake, her assistant, officially. Kylah had been drinking on the anniversary of her husband's suicide 5 years earlier and thinks she never will get over it. On one of the practice days for the re-enactment, someone is shooting at Kylah. This causes Wolf serious concerns as he is starting to be rather attracted to Kylah. Trouble is meantime investigating the murder of the woman by her tent as well as following Kylah around and attending to interviews with potential witnesses or guilty parties. At a practise session Trouble finds a rope strung between trees which would cause Kylah's horse to fall and potentially crush her. Luckily he gets Wolf there in time to cut the rope just before Kylah arrives galloping through the trees ready for the jump. This brings Kylah and Wolf even closer together and makes them realize they have something special going on. The organizer of the re-enactment event is a very arrogant guy whose wife will be participating in the re-enactment although he is against it. On the first day of the event Kylah will be doing the jumps with her horse so Wolf uses all the manpower he can get to ensure the path is clear and there are no traps. On arrival at the meeting place Wolf realises there is danger, he yells at Kylah to get down which she did just as two gunshots are heard. Kylah is ok but the wife of the organizer is fatally shot. Wolf goes to collect the organizer to take him to the hospital to say his farewells and then goes to see one of his long time buddies who always had loved the woman although she had married another guy. He is totally devastated and had been seeing the woman regularly for an ongoing affair. Kylah and Wolf relationship is developing very fast meantime, they realize that they love each other and they are worried about what will happen when Kylah goes back home. The rest of the event was cancelled and the FBI called in to assist in solving two murders and two attempted murders. Trouble attends the meetings and continues to study clues; he guides Wolf and the doubting sheriff and investigator to study a plan which was in the office of the organizer. Later as he is waiting with Kylah for Wolf to come back, they hear a truck stop at the office trailer. Kylah and Trouble go to investigate and find the event organizer trying to sneak out a Calvary revolver which has all the makings of the gun used to shoot his wife. Trouble meantime drops a vase from a sideboard making a huge racket attracting the attention of Jake and Wolf who just arrived back. With their combined efforts they manage to get Kylah out and the man disarmed before Trouble attacks his legs for good measure. Having solved the cases Wolf had to decide whether to follow Kylah to her hometown, let her go (never) or ask her to stay in North Carolina. To his intense relief she agrees to stay and Jake will stay too. Trouble can go back to his human Tammy knowing all is well with his detective skills and manipulation in the romantic department.

    Stunt Riding and Re-enactment

Trouble in Action by SUsan Y. Tanner kept me totally intrigued as the story had to do with stunt riders and war re-enactment. I felt as if I was right there with Kylah on the horses, as well as Wolf and Trouble. Mystery, romance, dead bodies, twists and turns to keep you turning the pages. Not forgetting the great cat Detective Trouble and his way of protecting and getting involved. So sit back and enjoy the "ride." I received an ARC prior to publication and decided to voluntarily review it. Opinions expressed are my own.

Trouble in Action by Susan Tanner

Trouble, the Cat Detective to the rescue! His love for bipeds and his Sherlock Holmes-ian deductive skills save the day (or the Civil War reenactment to be more exact). "Trouble in Action" by Susan Tanner is well researched and well written. I enjoyed this fast moving addition in the Familiar Legacy Series.

    Great read

Hello My name is Trouble and I help solve crimes. Sounds interesting-right? Oh did I mention I'm a cat? I belong to Tammy Lynn who allows me to travel around and do what I love. This time around I'm helping protect Kylah West-a stunt rider and solve the murder of Maisy McGuire ( a Civil War reenactor). Wolf Stockton is the man in charge of trying to figure out who wants to harm Kykah and who wanted Maisy dead. A non stop read full of action and suspense.

Trouble visits a Civil War Reenactment Site

Kylah is a professional stunt rider in town for a Civil War reenactment. Wolf is a law officer. Trouble the black cat is in town with his owner Tammy Lynn. As usual Trouble sniffs out trouble before it happens. He adopts Kylah and Wolf as they meet in a bar. When murder occurs at the reenactment site, Trouble is soon on the scene. This is a great story. One of my favorite Trouble books. If you haven’t read a Trouble book yet, now is the time to start!
