  • Sexy, sweet and fun

I have read Ms. Humphreys's paranormal romances and enjoyed them but this is my first contemporary romance from her and I loved, loved, loved everything about it! The characters, the settings, the romance, all of it. TROUBLE WALKS IN is a really sexy, sweet and fun friends-to-lovers story and had me giggling like a schoolgirl with pleasure. It's like the author went through a checklist and made sure to include everything readers would love - humor, family, lots of chemistry, witty banter and some suspense to spice it up. I especially enjoyed the steady pace of the story. Every page and every scene just added to the build-up to the climax and this is one of my favorite books this year as well as my favorite of all the author's books I've read so far. Morgan traded her hometown for the anonymity of New York after the death of her long-time boyfriend and has channeled all her energy into becoming a successful realtor, but Officer Ronan McGuire is the one piece of her past that she can't avoid in the city and she really doesn't mind because of the friendship that developed between them. Ronan however is not interested in just friendship. He's had his eye on Maddy for a long time and just has to figure out how he can get Maddy to see him as more than a friend. Maddy and Ronan had really great chemistry and their banter kept me smiling all the way to the end. I've got to say that Ronan has serious game. He's attractive, smart, very caring and single-minded in his pursuit of Maddy. He handled Maddy and her reservations very patiently but he was not taking no for an answer after wanting her for so long. Maddy is spirited and has a mile long independent streak that was sometimes frankly annoying, but I love that she was no pushover and took her time deciding to get involved with Ronan. Family is at the heart of this story and the McGuire family was so adorable. I loved how they welcomed Maddy into their fold with open arms and happy hearts. Even Ronan's K-9 partner Bowser was an endearing part of the story. I can't stop gushing about how much I enjoyed this book. It's a must read and I can't wait for the next book in the series.
