    Review of True Lovers

Review of True Lovers Author: Katelyn Skye. Entry is on Kobo books. This is a tempting start to a full series of similar stories that takes the lives of our two main characters forward. Here we go. TRUE LOVERS What you will notice first If you have read some of the reviews, you will know the male leads are marine veterans. Why then does the cover show a long haired young man when a marine will undoubtedly have short hair? Review Two marines are due home soon, on their final leave, they will be meeting up with their girlfriends. The story starts with their pre-home visit telephone call. For one marine he is crossing time from his youth when he and Rianne used to kid each other. Ten years down the line he’s always exchanged letters but never met her since then. Rianne offers Gabriel a place to stay and they cement their re-union in the most physically intense ways possible. When the two months are up what happens then? Characters Rianne Forget, social worker; Marcus Forget, marine; Gabriel Larkin, marine; Tricia, Marcus’ girlfriend; Rianne and Marcus’ Forget’s mother. Story Marcus rings home from Afghanistan to tell his family that he and Gabriel would be home in two weeks to stay awhile. With Marcus staying at home Gabriel asks to stay at Rianne’s. Rianne wilts in Gabriel’s arms when he arrives at the airport and that night she remembers the first time she kissed him ten years previously. For the next few days Gabriel and Rianne are close. Heavy intense intercourse brings them closer. After one evening out with Marcus and Trish and returning to their car they are attacked by two thugs with knives. Marcus takes out one of them but Gabriel receives nasty wound. In hospital the staff say it is a lot worse. While Gabriel is asleep she gets to talk with her brother who tells her a different story about their immediate future than Gabriel has let on. When he is ready Rianne, confronts him with Marcus’ story. Conclusion There’s been ten years of waiting until Gabriel comes home but take away the sex and the story is a bit thin. Knowing that there are another three parts to come, this feels as if it is one reasonable length short story that has been cut into four separate parts. So is it a good read? Not for me, it’s so-so. 3 out of 5 stars. There is not enough here for me to want to follow this up. As a stand-alone it only offers questions and little in the way of no conclusions.
