    Pointed in the right direction

The author took one of my favorite holiday tales and put her own special dark twist to it, and it is absolutely amazing! I loved how this book fit perfectly with the rest in the series. It was such a quick intense read, with a present that neither saw coming. These two characters are proof that not everything is as it seems, and opposites do attract. The author brought on the heat and made this book everything I have come to expect from her, and everything I was hoping for this couple. I enjoyed this book and already can’t wait to read it again.

    Three and a half

Three and a half This is such a fun paranormal series and now as the time of year turns towards winter we get a short story that is about paranormal creatures but set at Christmas. Yes if you want a mash up of Halloween vibes alongside a whole lot of Christmas then this homage to Dickens will certainly entertain on the darker nights ! Alasdair knows there's something about Delilah that's off but can't quite put his finger on what it is. She's gorgeous, intriguing and most of all frustrating. When he realises the Demons are possessing his fellow magical creatures he turns to Delilah who previously has loved to meddle ( she would say help !) but no the annoying woman actually refuses and then sends him to someone who is perhaps just a little too caught up in Christmas stories ! This was fun to read and certainly had the characters jumping through hoops. Their romance wasn't an immediate one which I preferred but certainly they had chemistry. I just wasn't totally convinced by the ending unfortunately but nevertheless it was sweet that they both finally found love and peace in each other's arms. This voluntary take is of a copy I requested from Netgalley and my thoughts and comments are honest and I believe fair

    Awesome Paranormal Series

Try As I Smite kept me guessing what was next throughout the story, probably because I didn't read the first three in the Brimstone Inc. series, which I've since purchased and plan to read. Although I have to say it was a great standalone. The biggest surprise of all was the revelation of her secret and how it contributed to the ending. Once again, Abigail Owen proved to be one of my favorite paranormal authors. Thank you to Entangled: Amara Publishing and NetGalley for providing me this arc for my honest review.

Smoking twist of A Christmas Carol!

Try As I Smite (Brimstone INC Book 4) by Abigail Owen I loved this supernatural tale with a smoking hot twist of A Christmas Carol. This fast paced story is exciting and had me on the edge of my seat, with great detailed world building and a great cast of interesting, complex, and engaging characters. I couldn’t put it down! The storyline is fascinating with multiple plots and a steamy romance that will keep you warm on the coldest of nights! Happy Reading♥️ Reader Advisory: Adult rated. This story contains explicit descriptions and words of smoking hot open bedroom door scenes and strong language.

Lust, sex and limited building of a relationship

Alasdair is the leader of the Covens Syndicate and a (the most?) powerful witch/warlock. But even he needs to seek help when his people are possessed by demons - killing the demon means killing the host. He unwillingly seeks help from Delilah, who owns an agency who provides all sorts of assistance & someone he has an unwilling attraction (lust) to & a rather frosty relationship with. Delilah refuses to help him personally but directs him to someone else which is where thereafter I felt it got really tedious. The person puts A & D under a Christmas Carol like spell taking them to scenes it their pasts, presents, and futures; which seemed to me like a way the author was to tell the history and background of the 2 characters. The book was really slow paced and I felt like it was plodding for most the 1st half. I didn't realize that this book is the 4th in a series & perhaps that's why I didn't enjoy it. I felt that there wasn't any romance between the H & h, just lust and sex and limited building of a relationship (was it all in the previous books?).
