  • Unmasking Miss Appleby

I haven't seen Emily before. How could I have missed her? I really enjoyed reading this book even with tissues. Marcus is shunned because his wife fell from their roof and slipped to her death. Charlotte is living with her aunt and uncle who hide her away and use her dowry for their daughters. Charlotte has a woman pop into her room. She is a Fey and owes her a debt. She wants to be able to change into anything. She turns into a man and now works as Marcus's secretary. Spoiler. Now they try together to find who breaks his windows and puts manure on his steps. Charlotte is now Albin and works to find who wants Marcus dead. She has fallen for him. Marcus finds who and what she is. Major Spoiler. He is banished by Marcus who walks about but took the knife instead for Marcus. This is a very active book. I can't count how many times Charlotte turns for him.It is an almost adult read. There are a few scenes here and there. Please don't let this book get away! I have volunteered to read and review this book.

I really liked this one. I was thinking at the beginning that the women always fall in love and get stupid. She does fall in love but doesn't get stupid in the normal sense. Very delightful story. Gets dark in places but I stayed enchanted with the whole story.

  • Wonderful

I did love this book and all it's characters, they felt real, not overblown caricatures. Once you get yr head around the magic aspect, which thankfully didn't take over the story... It was such a lovely, comfortable read. The love story unfolds slowly, no frantic bodice ripping for a change, more like Georgette Heyer style which just made it even better than I'd hoped for...And it is a looonng book, with no great rush to get to a conclusion that leaves you needing more...Loved it and will happily revisit it, many times

  • Compelling

A rather predictable ending, but it is a faerie tale! for such an unlikely gift that Charlotte is given, the tale is very believable. An easy read that I found hard to put down, and I am sorry that I have finished it...

  • Unmasquing Miss Appleby

Most incredible story, but what a pleasant suspense story to the very end. What a courageous character.
