  • Unraveled, an emotional story

Book two of the Damaged Hearts series a well written story that kept me turning pages. Blaze Thornton, and Lola Benton's story of a second chance and the things they have done in the three years since the night they lost their baby, and how they are finally brought together again. A very emotional story. I want to read the next book. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

  • Sometimes painfully raw, but mesmerizing

This book is beautifully written and insightful. It is sometimes painfully raw, but also very mesmerizing. The pain of the two main characters can be felt as the book unfolds, but so can their soul-deep connection, the love they try to hide from each other. Lola and Blaze were teenage lovers that we torn apart by a tragic event that neither were able to comprehend or absorb. They both had their own ways of dealing with the trauma and pain. Neither has been able to lock the other out of their hearts or memories, but both have tried to put temporary bandages over the pain. Years later, the pain, the hurt and the memories come flooding back the moment they see each other again. They are both trying to finish their final projects to get their degrees, but now they have been assigned to a project they must work on together. They push and pull at each emotionally and sometimes physically, neither it seems, quite ready to let go of the pain, but unable to stay away from each other. Their connection, their turmoil is easy for others to see, so raw that it cannot be hidden. Will they be brave enough to finally reveal their true emotions and the aftermaths of their shared trauma? Will they reach out for each other, or turn the other away? I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. Don’t forget to have tissues nearby when you this emotional story.

  • a second chance

I have read several books by this writer and what I mainly remember is how good she is with putting down deep emotions. In part 1 this came up well and you already get something from the story of Lola and Blaze. This is then their story. In the end you read all the emotions that come with a broken relationship, the intense sadness of the loss, the sense of betrayal and the feeling of unmistakably belonging together. But how much effort I had in trying to finish the book! The first few chapters linger in doubt and sadness and a lot of tears. I found the first few chapters too long-winded and I got the feeling that the story didn't get going. Only from chapter 11 more and newer information is added and the story comes alive. But even then I didn't get all the emotions as she could put it in other books. All in all, I give this book 3.5 stars I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
