The opening chapter gave me a totally new respect for butterflies as the author took us through Cyprus’ emerging from her cocoon! Not for the feint-hearted! But after the terrifying experience of the change, Cyprus gets another surprise – she’s now female, the only female born of Clan Equlestraa Untitalis, the most important family in their clan. It was expected that being a First was what Cyprus’s place in the grand scheme of things would be. Now Cyprus was not the glorious warrior who would be First among his Coven; instead, Cyprus was a Coven Master, a female who would have to lead her Coven, to ensure that she always had enough energy to share and keep her Coven’s power level flowing and recharging, to deal with the council, and scariest of all, to bear the Coven children. Regardless, she felt she was still a supreme warrior and will continue training as a warrior, no matter that her hard-earned wall of chest muscles had been replaced by useless breasts that jiggled. She could hardly lift her sword anymore! But does fate have another plan for her? Cyprus’ warrior trainees no longer seemed to have respect for her. So she walked over to the worst of the slackers and knocked him unconscious. Now instead of laughing, she had the whole group of 20 males lusting after her. She caused several to need the medical regenerator, and caused broken noses and jaws. When she finished with them, she had regained the proper respect of her trainees. But the lower house Coven Masters were now complaining about the warrior female and demanding they make her docile, but Raitza only laughed. The Equlestraa Untitalis raises warriors and that is what Cyprus is and will continue to be. When Cyprus meets Alknowan, the Prince of the Dragonish Prime, he believes he is saving a damsel in distress, one that he wants for his own. But she is an Equlestraa, the horse type gargoyle warrior, while Alknowan’s secondary form is Dragon. She wants to kill him and her family and politics are against them. Is he willing to continue on his new path? Will he give up everything to become Unus, the First of her Coven?

  • I loved it!

I loved Unus. It's the story about how Cyprus became a coven master and found her first mate. I guess it would be classified as a prequel story to Coven, which is the first book that I read by this author. I hope the author continues with the prequel stories. I would love to see how Cyprus finds her second mate and how Unus responds to it. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
