  • A Book Well-Worth Reading

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The story is about a girl named Leah and the people she meets after she joins a wagon train headed for California. She is not only seeking her fortune after her parents are murdered but trying to escape from her uncle. The story paints a vivid picture of the gold rush and the hardships that are endured. Leah is a very engaging character and I quickly became emotionally invested in her and her strange and awesome ability to sense the presence of gold, something which she tries to keep a secret. On her journey, friendships are made and some are lost, there are births and deaths, conflict and danger, as well hope and a touch of romance. Lastly, the author is a good writer - you won't find her work marred by grammatical errors, etc. I'm looking forward to reading the next in the series.

    Thanks for your feedback!
